Who is gonna be this year's MVP for the NL and AL? Once again, a Yankee, Jeter, is recieving huge publicity for it in the AL. Ortiz would be up there but he has been held out of the past couple games and has slowed down his pace since learning of his irregular heartbeat. The Bosox have also slowed their run at the division and wildcard with the problems that have occured with Ortiz. Jermaine Dye though, has quietly been putting together an MVP season and is getting to be the competition for Jeter.

The NL boasts the names of the Ryan Howard, Carlos Beltran, and Albert Pujols. Howard is leading the ML in HRs and RBIs as I post this. Pujols is behind Howard but that may only be because he was injured earlier in the year when he was on pace to break the HR and RBI record. Beltran is simply putting together the best season for the best team in the NL. Not saying that he doesn't deserve the nomination, but he does play for the league's best team that resides in NY.

Bias picks:

AL - The Canadian Justin Morneau.
NL - The New York Met Carlos Beltran.

Who will likely win:

AL - Derek Jeter. Yankee captain. Never won it before.
NL - Albert Pujols. How many games has he been their only source of offence?

In the AL it should be Justin Morneau. Without him the Twins don't have enough offense to win.

If Pujols doesn't get hurt this year we don't even debate this. The Cardinals aren't even close to being as strong as they were in past years, yet they'll still win the division. He is the Cardinals right now.

I don't follow the National too much but Howard is just having a monster season. Beltran's low average hurts but otherwise he's having an MVP type season... and of course had Pujols not been injured - case closed.

American League...

I want Jeter to win because of fan bias, but lots of guys are making a good run. I don't like the idea of DH's winning MVP but I'll include them here anyway. This is still very much up for grabs... any of these guys and even a few others can win it based on how they finish out the season.

For the National League it's Soriano easily.

.291 avg.
44 HR
86 RBI
36 SB
36 2b
104 R

The guy could potentially have a 40-40-40-20 year. 40 HR, 40 SB, 40 2b, and 20 Assists from the outfield. Hitting the 20 assist mark will put him with only Babe Ruth for some combination of homers and assists. I heard some commentators discussing it. He also became the fastest player ever to reach 200 HR and 200 steals.

For the American League I have to go with another guy off my team in Jermaine Dye. By far the best year of his carreer, and I hope he gets rewarded for it.

Problem for Soriano is he's playing on a last place team.

I actually don't mind him that much anymore now that he's playing the outfield. He isn't the defensively liability he was at second and his walks are actually up this season. He'll be a very very rich man this winter.

If jeter wins the batting title then i think he will finnally get it. take him off the yankees and were would they be?

As for the NL it will be a 3 man race between howard, soriano and pujols.
