New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that right wing Jed Ortmeyer has been diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism. Ortmeyer is set to undergo further testing this week and will be out of action indefinitely.
Ortmeyer, 27, appeared in 78 games this past season with the Rangers, registering five goals and two assists, along with 38 penalty minutes. He ranked first among team forwards and seventh among all NHL forwards with 75 blocked shots.
