Well, looking at the Chicago thread there is some confusion as to who is the top QBs in the league.

1. Tom Brady
2. Peyton Manning
3. Donovan McNabb
4. Carson Palmer
5. Trent Green

There you have it. Some people, wildboy, may say McNabb is too high because he doesn't have TO. Well he was in 4 straight Pro Bowls and 3 straight NFC Championship games without TO. He got to the Superbowl without TO. Obviously his best year was with TO, but that's bound to happen when you are throwing to James Thrash and Todd Pinkston. Our recieving core is better now than it was pre-TO. Plus McNabb has that extra weapon in his legs. McNabb has always had that threat to break defenses down by taking off and rippin off huge chunks of yardage.

Sorry, I think you have to be able to throw the ball at least 25 yards to make a 10 QB list.;)

My list would be:

1)Peyton Manning
2)Tom Brady
3)Carson Palmer
4)Matt Hasselback
5)Trent Green or Marc Bulger or Donovan McNabb or Rex Grossman(jk)

I obviously dont think McNabb is too high at #3 personally for the simple reason of not having a SB as the thread starter suggested, since nobody on this list except Brady does. If it was just based on who won a Super Bowl I would have Roethlisburger and Brad Johnson up there too. I just dont think he will have a 2003-04 or 2004-05 like season this year without TO there, and Carson Palmer, if recovered from his major injury in the playoffs, will easily be a top 3 QB again this year and might even move higher then #3. He certainly was comparable to both Manning and Brady last year in the regular season, most would probably atleast agree on that much.

Last year McNabb was injured from about game 1 with that dirty hit from a Falcons player. McNabb didn't have TO in 03-04, yet still made the Pro Bowl. He made the Pro Bowl four consecutive years before TO. Our recieving core is better now. There is no reason to believe that he won't be just as good as he was before last year's injury plagued season. Carson Palmer has Chad Johnson and TJ Houshmanzadeh, both better than what McNabb has ever had at WR. Plus a very good run game with Rudi Johnson. Palmer is good but his weaons help him look great. McNabb has been great without weapons.

I do agree with you that players like Palmer and Manning are helped by their great WR cores. How much one takes that into account is individual I guess.

Being one of the 3 QBs from your conference to make the Pro Bowl, especialy out of the generaly regarded weaker NFC does not neccessarily make you the #3 QB in the NFL tough. That is what you are saying he was able to do before TO.

Palmer, Green, and McNabb over Brady? I know the Pronger thing has damaged you but come on. Brady has 3 Super Bowl rings and last year showed that when given the chance to throw the ball, can do it with the best of them.

If Super Bowl rings was the true measure of who is the better QB though would that mean that Brad Johnson is a better QB then Peyton Manning? After all Brad has a Super Bowl ring and Manning does not. :D

I'd still put Culpepper on this list somewhere.

1)Tom Brady - as the Pats shift to more of an offensive team, he's shown he can carry the load and put up the big time numbers that a player with all his hype get.

2)Carson Palmer - was dominant last year, and I don't see why he shouldn't be dominant if he plays at close to 100% this year. the weapons are still there for him, and the knee injury doesn't greatly hurt a pocket passer like him.

3)Peyton Manning - He can't win a game that matters, but he puts up big numbers and has a football IQ as high as anyone in the game.

4)Donovan McNabb - one of the toughest guys in pro sports, and a threat to break defenses down through the air or on the ground.

5)Drew Brees/Dante Culpepper - both guys are coming off of injuries, but are in situations where they could thrive next season. Brees put up numbers in SD where his primary targets where a TE and HB. He'll have a good time in NO with receivers like Horn and Stallworth to throw to, and Bush as an out in the passing game doesn't hurt either. Dante will have Ronnie Brown keeping defenses honest, which will allow for plenty big plays to Chris Chambers down field.

1. Tom Brady
2. Donovan McNabb
3. Peyton Manning
4. Carson Palmer
5. Jake Delhomme

After the 1st four QB's its a toss up but if someone like Steve McNair can stay healthy he'll be right up there!

Cheers

McNair could definitely have a big season in Baltimore. He's back with Mason and has an elite pass catching TE in Heap. If he stays healthy the Ravens will be a huge threat.

Brad Johnson rode his team to a Super Bowl title. Tom Brady was an integral part in getting the Pats 3 championships. And he can put up the numbers too. Last season, when the offense became a little more pass oriented with the injury to Dillon and Brady didn't disappoint at all with the stats he put up.

I know this is an old thread but the only reason I could think of to possably not put Peyton Manning at #1 is that he is not a clutch performer in the playoffs. Once he proves that he is, if he ever does, it would be almost impossable for everyone not to concede him as #1.

1)Peyton Manning
