I just think it's garbage that Hasek said vehemently "I will only play for ottawa next year. If they don't want me back then I'll retire and return to the Czech Republic." Complete crap. I wouldn't have even been irritated if he had said that his first priorty is to return to Ottawa to finish what he started, but that he would re-evaluate if the Sens wanted to go in a different direction. Just complete BS, where's the honesty from the start?

Well just think of how happy you will be watching that first Detroit Playoff game and they show Hasek in his suit and tie watching the Wings get hammered by the Flames or Sharks. :thumb:

If memory serves me correctly, I don't think you are the first to question his honesty. Weren't there all kinds of rumblings in Buffalo and Detroit in regards to him being honest about his injuries?

Well that's just it. I don't mind that he signed with them, that's his right. Maybe he does feel like he's always been a Red Wing. That's fine. But don't say that it's Ottawa or nothing before signing in Detroit. He had nothing to gain. If he had said "I really want to play for ottawa, but I can't make the decision for them," then when we signed Gerber the door would be open for him. It was just an unnecessary lie I guess is my point.

My sentiments exactly. He's like Lindros in that he rarely plays a full season. :rollover:

Um I looked at Domo's stats: http://www.eurohockey.net/players/show_player.cgi?serial=10497
pretty regular play since he first became an NHL starter, save for one season in Buffalo, one in Detroit and the latter part of this past season.

The fact is at his age he's a huge liability and runs an almost guarantied risk of injury not to mention the locker room issues he’ll return to.
But saying that he’s still one of the best and for the price and what’s available he could be worth the gamble.

As long as he's healthy for Detroit's last 16 Wins, ;) is all I think Ken Holland cares about.

Great move by Detroit.

They take a risk, but ultimately if Hasek is healthy in the playoffs... they have a huge leg up on anyone else.
