This guy gets chance after chance to make a comeback and it never materializes. I predict more of the same old for Lindros in Dallas.

Eric Lindros is expected to agree to a one-year deal with the Dallas Stars as early as Sunday, according to multiple media reports.

Lindros, 33, an unrestricted free agent, is coming off two injury-shortened seasons in Toronto in which he played 39 and 33 games, respectively. He had 11 goals and 11 assists for Toronto in 2005-06 before wrist surgery ended his season.

The Stars, Maple Leafs and Edmonton Oilers have been among teams courting Lindros this offseason. In 11 NHL seasons he has 367 goals, 472 assists and 1328 penalty minutes in 711 games.

"If we were to get him, I think he would add an interesting element to our team," Stars coach Dave Tippett told the Dallas Morning News on Friday. "He's a big, strong player who is defensively responsible, and he can also play the right wing if you need him to. I just think he's ready for a big season."

With Arnott gone the Stars need another center. When healthy Lindros was decent last year in terms of points production. However, as I said WHEN HEALTHY. Also wasn't his dream to play for the Leafs and nowherelse? Not Leaf bashing here. I just don't see Dallas as a big player in the West this season.

ESPN is so bad. Lindros only played one season with the Leafs.

But anyways, I agree with KB. Lindros can be good when healthy. He's just almost never healthy.

If anyone needs the law of averages to show itself, its for Eric Lindros. The guy simply needs a break to go his way. If he can get it, he could be in the top 20 in points. He is good, you can't take that away from him, but he needs lady luck to get him thru a full season.

In order for Eric to be good, he has to play a physical type of game.
The type of game that leaves him injued.

Look at the last time he played a full season, in New York.
He played safe. . . but was mostly ineffective

Ten Years ago the thought of Lindros and Modano playing together would have made their team a certain cup contender if not a favorite, but fast forward ten years, and now I think Dallas will be lucky to make the playoffs.

Hmmm...Lindros had seasons of 76 and 53 points with the Rangers. In 2001-2002, he finished 11th in the league in goal scoring and 18th in overall scoring. In 2002-2003, he had 19 goals and 53 points in 81 games, only 4 points less than Patrik Elias. It doesn't look like he was ineffective looking at the stats.

The problem I think people have is that they're used to seeing Lindros dominate like he did with the Flyers, but he's just not capable of playing at that level anymore. He's still capable of producing some good point totals if he can remain healthy, but therein lies the problem. If he could get lucky enough to stay somewhat healthy, it might be a risk worth taking. But, considering he's going to be playing in a division against defensemen like Pronger, McLaren, Vishnevski, Boynton, Blake, and others that are capable of laying a heavy hit on a guy, it could be dangerous.

I wonder if it was presented as a case study and we said the name was player X and gave only the stats and the Dallas or any team's scenario and cap situation what would the reaction be.

The other thing about playing in the west is the travel. That can have a toll on physical health and mental well being of a player.
