FIVE YEARS AGO TODAY

The Toronto Maple Leafs made another familiar exit from the Stanley Cup playoffs without winning a damn thing. But this time they did it with some style. Against the New Jersey Devils in an important game seven, they barely showed up. The Leafs had six shots on goal in the entire game! SIX in SIXTY minutes! They lost that seventh game 3-0 and were once again eliminated from the playoffs. Those six shots were a record for the fewest since the expansion era of 1967 on. Oh, my!
