The Vancouver Sun reports that the Canucks will announce early this week they have signed free agent centre Marc Chouinard to a two-year, $2 million US contract.

Chouinard, 29, played the past two seasons with the Minnesota Wild.

In 74 games last season, he scored 14 goals and 30 points and finished seventh in team scoring.

In five NHL seasons with the Wild and Anaheim Ducks, Chouinard has 35 goals and 74 points in 278 games.

Very good signing for the Canucks, especially considering the price for third line centres

Chouinard brings size to the Canucks, at 6 foot 5 218 pounds

He can also win faceoffs, and has a right shot..

An extra option to step in front of the net on the PP, and work like a monster on the PK

Good work by Nonis, this makes the bottom six stronger

Santala and Chouinard will really help with the faceoffs :thumb:

What a bargain this deal is,excellent signing by Nonis!:boogie:

Don't be fooled by his numbers last season,Chouinard is better than that!

a depth signing and a guy who is good in his own end and could win late game faceoffs, a couple of things the Canuck forwards were lacking in last year and the year before that.
