I'm actually not happy with the buyout, don't get me wrong its time for him to go, but the leafs are only saving 425,000.00 in actual money and his entire 1.5 goes to the cap over 2 years. Each team is only allowed 3 buyouts over the entire length of the CBA, so I think its prudent to save them for when it can save more cap space.

However it does signify that MLSE has given full control of hockey operations to the GM for once. Maybe thats more important.
