As I post this, Phoenix is in the process of offering Paul Mara for Nick Boynton. Would you do that deal?

I wouldn't deal Boynton away for Mara. That's just me.

The deal didn't happen ... somehow during the draft, Phoenix wanted Boynton real bad ... but I guess it was just a phase.

Boynton is only going to get better.
I bet he's on the next CDN Olympic team..<call me wildboy>
I have seen Nick play alot, as he spent his Jr. career in Ottawa with the storied Ottawa 67's. You don't want Mara instead of Boynton.

With Pronger in play, will the Bruins be in the game, will Phoenix?

Well looks like the deal happened:http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=169806&hubname

So much for my speculating, I wonder if Ekland ever feel like this?:wicked:

Boynton is a very good defenseman, a solid workhorse

Phoenix wins this trade.

Bad move for Boston..they already have Stuart, Tanabe..why add another offensive guy?

quick question when does Chiarelli (sic) take over in Beantown? I heard/read it was July 15. How does a team draft/trade/sign free agents without their guy in the gm's chair?

BTW Sullivan was fired today.

Takes over the 15th & their is an interm GM in the meantime, most likely just following Chiarelli's orders until he assumes full duties.

I can't speak for Mara’s play except to say that his plus-minus has been dreadful, a career minus-82 in his eight seasons with the Lighting and Coyotes (not the greatest teams, however). Hopefully his power play prowess will outshine his presumed defensive liabilities.

Boynton seemed to be B's the vocal on-ice leader, and he's a wear-his-heart-on-his-sleeve type of player. He got off to a bad start (hold-out), took a dumb penalty every once in a while and had other signficant injuries, but he has been a solid defenseman in his tenure with the Bruins (career plus-30).

Then again, the B's management is touting the merits of a "clean slate," so maybe the trade will be good for both clubs and spark the Bruins' ascent to to the playoffs.

Or maybe the new coach (Boston media reports it will probably be Dave Lewis), will last two years, like most of the rest over the past few decades.

Mara is from NE as well.
Looks like Boston just wants to sell a few more jerseys, that's all.

How did Dave Lewis manage to squeeze a 4-year contract out of the Bruins?
