Tampa, FL (Sports Network) - The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed Finnish goaltender Fredrik Norrena to a one-year entry level contract, the team announced on Tuesday.
"They say good things come to those who wait," said Tampa Bay executive vice president and general manager Jay Feaster. "We have waited four years to get Fredrik to North America."
Selected by the Lightning in the seventh round (213th overall) of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Norrena has spent the past four seasons in the Swedish Elite League and helped lead Vastra Frolunda to the league title in the 2002-03 season. He led the league in goals-against average in 2003-04 (1.69) and 2005-06 (2.16)
Most recently, he backstopped Finland to a bronze medal in the World Hockey Championships in Latvia earlier in May. He led the tournament in goals-against average (1.11), save percentage (.951) and shutouts (three).
Including the 2006 Olympics, in which Finland won a bronze medal, the 32-year- old posted a 9-3 record with seven shutouts.

Perhaps the next Tim Thomas, or Huet?
Norrena has been solid in europe..and could do very well in the NHL
Good move by Feaster
