Hopefully the PA accepts this proposal, since the current 10 day suspension is a joke. 50 games would put the league in the ballpark with the NFL (4 games or 25% of the season). Also, 3 strikes and your out. Under the current deal a guy could get caught 5 times and could still not be banned for life.
Good job Bud Light...it's about time :thumb:
Agreed.
I don't think any baseball fan would say that 10 games is an appropriate number of games for taking steriods. You're right, it is a joke and they only put it in because it was a rushed decision and that's all MLB could get the PA to agree to at the time. They didn't want to be wasting too much time on it then, so it's good now that Selig is going back and trying to adjust the penalties. The proposed numbers are better, so hopefully it's agreed upon.
I think the ban length is a great idea. I hope the league does increase its testing.

I like this new proposed idea of 50 games, 100 games, and a lifetime ban for testing positive for steroids. The current system is an absolute joke, I mean don't many of these players miss at least 10 games a year anyway? The policy needs to actually deter players from using steroids, rather than slapping them on the wrist.
Something else I'd like to see them do is come out with a list of exactly what is allowed, and what isn't. The way it is now, I don't think anybody really knows exactly what substances are banned, and which are allowable. Although, I'm sure some of these guys will just find bigger and better substances to help them out.
