Since losing Al Montoya and what looked like their playoff hopes... The Hartford Wolfpack named Chris Holt their starter and he's since gone 4-2 with a 2.48 GAA and a .924 SV%.

Those numbers look quite a bit different than the Chris Holt who was an ECHL part timer just a few months ago. Good for him!


PS - before anyone goes claiming that Holt is now higher in the Rangers organization than Montoya... look up the page from Holt's name. Montoya was sporting a 1.87/.932 capping off an all-star rookie campaign before Holt got his chance. ;)

What happened to Montoya? Did he get injured, or did the team simply decide to give Holt a chance to replace him as starter and he stole the position out from under Montoya? :)

He's injured. Done for the season I heard.

That's about the 3rd or 4th time he's gotten injured this season at least.

These things happen... but when it keeps happening, you're durability comes under question. I hope this doesn't become a recurring theme for young Alvaro.

Yeah if he is getting injured that much that is a bad sign for him. If you cant prove you are reliable, that is a big problem.

i was for trading montoyo earlier on in the season but im against it now. what i think the rangers should do since they have lundquist and weekes cant handle the backup is to let montoya play 30 games as henrick"s backup next season. seems like montoya although likes the heavy workload does get injured quit often. and in the meantime let this chris holt play down and hartford and develope this guy. and if montoya develops this role into some perfection then the rangers can explore options with him and still know they have holt developing down in hartford who seems beter then advertised.
