Lost in the hoopla that is trade deadline week, it was missed that a legend in the sports journalism world passed away on Wedensday.

I grew up in Toronto, and I remember as a child while getting ready for school, Jim Hunt doing sports on CKEY radio. It was a station that my dad listened too, so I had to as well. He would later write an article or two a week for the Toronto Sun, usually on the CFL or NFL but he covered most sports. He covered Stanley Cups, the Masters, U.S. Opens, Super Bowls, Olympics and the 1972 Canada-Russia hockey series.

I actually met him once, I used to work at the Toronto Sun in the returns department, and as I was in picking up my pay cheque I ran into him in the lobby at 333 King Street. I was just a kid of 18 at that time, and a stranger to him, but he treated me like I was family.

I will miss the old coot. RIP Shaky, my heart goes out to your family.

I would think the Sun would re-print his articles weekly the way they do with Max Haines. I would read them all over again.
