OK here's the poll for the Norris, I hate that scoring comes into the picture... but that's usually how it goes and I have to choose ten

I went with Zubov. He's really brought his game up a level in the second half... You might see him lead all d-men in scoring by the season's end.

He's also +18 and relies far less on the power play for his points than the guys above him.

No Chara?

I had to use some criteria to pick just 10. Usually Norris winners are of the high-scoring type defenseman, so that's what I used.

You can write in Chara if you like. :)

I like Zubovski too. One of these polls I will disagree with you Mel.

I've got to disagree on that
Chara is only 5 points off his last season total and he came second in voting.
Although I don't disagree that points have a factor the defensive liability is as big a criteria too. I'd be surprised if he's not a top 4 in voting this year again... He shuts down all the big lines for Ottawa and is one of the best at it.

The only media folks who vote solely on points are our friends at sportsnet or
TSN :wicked:

I agree points are big factor and I was going to vote for Lindstrom but out of protest I vote Chara =]

Gotta be Pronger.

The guy is only getting better offensively (2 points through his first 17 games or something of that ilk) and defensively has been near perfect the entire season; though with his foot injury that may change as he has not been as dominant. He's playing almost 30 minutes a game of mistake-free hockey and loading up on the points. He's made MA Bergeron look like a #1 defenseman in this league. The Hobit's good.. but he's not that good

I agree with Max that Chara should be present here. He doesn't get my vote, but I'll take it a bit further and state that I don't think any list can be credible if he's not listed among 10 nominees.

I went with Lidstrom, but these things are always hard to predict. There's so many deserving candidates every year, and the season hasn't even ended yet.

All right all right I give, Chara's been added!

Didn't mean to diss the big Z man. He is in fact my favorite NHL defenseman. I was just trying to be partial.

Max I swithced your vote to Chara :)

I think Lindstrom will win but you can leave my vote on Chara if you want... He's my second and Pronger is my third

No Surprise who I voted for. Playing for a weak defensive team and is still even. If he didn't miss time with a groin injury he would be ahead in points.

Had to vote for Mccabe. Take a look at the leafs record when he's not in the lineup. Though now I'm positive he isn't a big ice type of player, in the NHL he handles his own defensively and is average to above average this year for sure. He's improved dramatically in that department. Last year he finished 4th in Norris voting, with his increased point output(highest PPG among defencemen) and better defence, he's bound to be in at least the top 3 and he could very well win the Norris.

Lidstrom, Pronger, Chara and Redden are all deserving candidates though.

Gotta go with the man that won it last time. Niedermayer has been fantastic on a team that would probably get beat by all these other defenseman's teams with the exception of the Leafs.:)

Runners up would be Zubov, Chara, and Lidstrom.

Niedermayer should win it, but I think Lidstrom will end up getting it this year. I'd put Zubov and Chara in that group as well. With all due respect to the Leafers and Oilists, I don't think either McCabe or Pronger will win it this year. IMO, the four defensemen I mentioned have been more important to their teams success than McCabe or Pronger.

Zubov...somewhat of a surprise since I thought he'd been in decline.
