From CBSsportsline:
"Rex is definitely our No. 1 quarterback. Rex is an excellent player. This should be the last time I have to answer ... It's not going to change, guys, anytime on this. Yes. You can look at what I've said all along. Every day Rex Grossman has been able to play, he's been our starting quarterback. And we love him being there." - Bears coach Lovie Smith

There are rumours of some strong disagreements between Angelo and Lovie right now. So those views are not neccessarily Angelo's views. Lovie in fact has not had his contract secured yet.
Also there is a poll at the tribune right now between Brees who looks like he will be a free agent or Grossman. More people have picked Brees so far. I wonder who asked the newspaper to put up that poll?

A poll where the casual fan is voting is hardly concrete evidence of anything. Brees won't end up anywhere near Chicago.

I hope you are right. Even if it means the pain of seeing Grossman start for a full year.(UGGGGHHH!)I dont want to see them pay $10 or something to get that guy. After all didnt he turn down an offer for $5 million a year with alot of performance incentive bonuses from San Diego?

Why wouldn't he turn down a 5 million dollar contract? The guy has shown to be a very solid starting QB in this league and if his shoulder makes a full recovery then he's a guy deserving of 8-10 million dollars/year.

Obviously the shoulder is going to diminish his value somewhat if it is a question. Anyway the Bears are going to go after him is what alot of their fans are telling me, so it will be interesting to see if they can land him.

The Bears won't go after him. They won't have too much cap room after they sign their picks and Brees will want top 5 QB money, which some other team will give to him.

It depends if the cap is increased or not. If they were going to make due with the lower cap system money, that means they could afford the extra 8-10 million they would need which is less than the difference if the new cap system goes through.

They still won't go after him because they won't offer as much as other teams. They also don't need to. They just need Grossman to improve, keep the O-line good, make a decision about Benson and Jones, and if possible, improve the defense.

Yes Baseball.
12)Ovechkin will win the Calder this year Bold.:thumb:
Glad we agree on something. :boogie:
13)Kelly Scott will not win the World Curling Championships What?
She didnt. Already 1 gaurantee in the bank now. :boogie:
14)Randy Ferby will never again win a World Curling Championships Who?
A curler, Canada's second most successful sport after hockey, hate it or not.
15)Tom Brady will never win the league MVP award Wrong
He hasnt yet and New England's dynasty of doing things like winning 3 SuperBowls in 4 Years is over. They are losing players and coaches right and left. If he couldnt do it during that time, and he still hasnt done it in case you werent aware of it, he certainly wont do it now on a New England team that is still great, and could have another Super Bowl in them, but will never reach their dynasty level of that four-year span ever again.
16)Peyton Manning
will not win more than 1 Super Bowl in his career(if any) OK, I agree with this one.
Good we agree on another one. :boogie:
17)Jaromie Iginla will never win the Art Ross or Maurice Richard again He's too good for this to be right.
Perhaps, time will tell. However with Crosby, Ovechkin, and Staal all looking like the real deal for years to come it wont be easy. Not to mention still fairly young players like Richards and Gagne who arguably are only starting to come into their own, as long as they can stay healthy, and have more improvent still ahead than Iginla. I am sure he will bounce back with better years than this year but with the great youngsters coming up individual awards wont come easy for him.
1Bode Miller will never win the Overall World Cup title in skiing again Skiing?
Yes alpine skiing.
19)Chad Hedrick will not win any golds in speed skating at next Olympics Speed Skating?
Yes speed skating.
20)the Dutch men will win atleast 3 golds in speed skating at next Olympics No one cares about the Olympics.
I do, and I always cheer for Dutch and Swiss athlets.

1. Rex Grossman will never become an NFL starting QB. Wrong
Well we probably find out for good this year. It is a now or never situation for him now IMO. If he does not produce in training camp and win the starting job, well he is in the last year of his contract, Griese has the long contract, Orton could be groomed.....So it is now or never for him, if he comes off the field this year, either through injury or poor play, this time, unlike the other times, he will never go back on IMO. If he gets through this year as starter he probably gets a new contract but if not he is history in Chicago.
2. Lars Hirschfeld will never be a goalkeeper for Canada again. Don't care so I won't comment.
Fair enough. I will keep updated if this holds true though.
3. Eric Hinske will be gone from Toronto by the end of the year. Don't care
If you were a fan of the Blue Jays you would.
4. Coleen Jones will retire soon. Who?
A curler, arguably the greatest female skip in Canadian curling history(though
I would give the edge to the late Sandra Schmirler over her personaly), who has won 6 Scott(Canadian)titles, 2 Worlds, and a World silver. Her team has announced it is leaving the sport, so the official announcement and my 2nd of 20 proven right should soon follow.
5. Crosby will not win the scoring race until 2010. This one might be the funniest.
Really, is he being traded from Pittsburg? If he is staying in Pittsburg he would have to be Wayne Grezxty level compared to the rest of the top players on much stronger teams before 2010 to win it. I would say the same for Ovechkin in Washington except Washington, as horrable as they are, are doing things the right way as far as their management decisions, and might eventualy become a semi-decent team by then even with their low budget, while Pittsburg is doing it all the wrong way. That is why I think Pittsburg will stay an awful team, they make all the wrong decisions, compounded with not having enough money. That is why I predict Crosby wont win the scoring title until atleast 2010 even if he does become the player in the game with the most ability by then, it wont be enough to overcome his awful team.
6. Jagr will be around in 2010 even though he says he wont now. Uh, I guess.
He recently said he would retire when his contract ran out, when is that?
7. Montoya will be traded by the Rangers before he even becomes solid backup in New York. Wrong
With Lundquist now looking more and more like the future of the Rangers this is even more likely.
8. Canada will not qualify for the next World Cup of Soccer in 4 years. Soccer?
Yes, Lars the Canadian goalkeeper who was another of my 20 gaurantees is a Soccer player as well.
9. Lundqvist will be the best goalie in the World in a couple years. Possibly
Most definitely possably. ;) In fact he may be already.
10. Rick Nash will never play for Team Canada again. Wrong. Maybe he SHOULD never be on the team again, but most definitely will be on the team again.
We will see.

I'm not gonna comment on the things I don't care about or the ones that are already being discussed in another thread.
Tom Brady put up the best regular season numbers of his career last year, and if it wasn't for Shaun Alexander, he would have been in the campaign with Carson Palmer and Peyton Manning for the MVP. He has been consistently getting better from his rookie year and with the lack of a running game from Corey Dillon's decline of play and habit of being hurt. He has the least support around him, for the numbers he puts up, and if he does it again this year, he SHOULD get the MVP.
Crosby is already 8th in the league in points. He's only going to get better unless he takes the Rick Nash progression curve. The only person, IMO, that will stay ahead of him possibly is Ovechkin, but Ovechkin won't have Malkin coming to North America to play with.

Malkin is a puck hog. He might be more concerned with outdoing Crosby than he is helping him and the team. Anyway are you sure he will come over, and it wont be another situation like that Washington Capitals player who is now being taken to court. :D

I was proven right on 13 when Scott did not win the Worlds. I have now been proven right on 10. The fact Rick Nash is not a certain invite to the lowly World Championships does not mean he might not be a certain invite some year in the future to the event, or even be invited this year if there are enough players who turn down offers to "make room" for him on the team this year. If Rick Nash is not even a certain invite to the World Championships though, and is getting asked to an event like this after the likes of Bergeron, Boyes, and Colby Armstrong, then it is a lock, a definite, a slam dunk, Nash will never play at a World Cup or Olympics for Canada. I mean for crying out loud, he is an option AFTER the likes of Bergeron, Boyes, and Armstrong now, and is not even a certain invite to a lowly event like the World Championships.

I am not that good, and if I knew those, I would probably be spending less time on the internet.
1.) The Edmonton Oilers will lose in 6 games or less to the Detroit Red Wings.
2.) Peter Forsberg will injure himself while diving to get a call.
3.) The world is round.
4.) I hate my job, and will quit within 6 months.
5.) Timmy Tabasco will take over as Canucks GM, and immediately trade Markus Naslund to the Ducks for Jeff Friesen.
6.) Bob Burns will lead a Communist uprising within the next two years.
7.) wildboy26 blindly hates Rick Nash, whether because of jealousy, bitterness, or some other strange reason, I'm not sure.
8.) Cristobal Huet will be starting in goal for the Montreal Canadiens in Game 1 against the Hurricanes.
9.) This thread is pointless.
10.) Who the **** cares?
1) MD will try to bait me because I don't love Marty Brodeur

By the way, just to follow up on the Brodeur discussion, if you take out the first 20 games of the season, Brodeur has been having just about as good of a season as Kiprusoff. In his last 53 games, Brodeur has a 2.28 GAA, with a .920 Save %. And no, I'm not trying to say that he's had the better all around year, just that he's been very good for most of the season.:thumb:

No it is matter of fact that the French Canadian analysts will always say a French Canadian goalie is the best, whether they are or not. They all said Roy was the best even during 94-99 when Hasek was clearly the better goalie; and they will always say Brodeur is by far the best no matter how superior Kiprusoff, Vokoun, Lundquist might be in the stats. Since you are not from Canada you would not know what I am talking about anyway.
Of all your post the last one takes the cake and I hope it gets deleted.

No offense, but one season does not make a goalie the best in the league. It takes more than a couple seasons, or one good playoff run to earn that title, and Brodeur is the only active goaltender to have done it consistently for over a decade. Can anybody on that list you mentioned say the same?

I admit Brodeur is the best playoff goalie in the game today, and I never thought my hypothetical had much chance of coming true. I was shocked at his 03-04 playoff performance which was his only true bad playoff performance ever, but I guess everybody has bad days. I hope he has a great performance vs Carolina in the next round since I am mad at Carolina for taking out Montreal.
