I am not saying atleast half of the members of the 2006 mens Olympic hockey team will be on the 2010 mens Olympic hockey team. However both TSN and Sportsnet suggested that and used that exact number(atleast half). So just out of curiosity if you had to pick atleast half of the 2006 mens Olympic team to not make the 2010 mens Olympic hockey team, and again I am not insinuating that is what you think, just in the hypothetical scenario they are right on that, which minimum 12 out of 23 would you think would not make it?

Forwards:

Sakic
Iginla
Gagne
Nash
Heatley
Thornton
Bertuzzi
LeCavalier
Richards
St. Louis
Doan
Draper
Smyth

Pronger
Foote
Blake
Bouwmeester
McCabe
Redden
Rhegher

Brodeur
Luongo
Turco

The ones bolded are the 12 that I believe would not make the 23 man roster in 2010, if indeed that forecast that atleast half of the 2006 team wont make the team in 2010, although again that is only under that hypothetical scenario.

St. Louis, Bert, Doan and Nash will be on it I think. The first 3 d-men will be too old. McCabe may be on it, depends on how he is playing at the time. I see Brodeur not being on it and the other 2 on it.

Sakic, Iginila Bertuzzi, Smyth, St. Louis, Draper, Doan, Foote, Blake, McCabe, Brodeur, Turco, Regehr should/most likely will all be gone either due to age or their style of game just not carrying over to the olympics. I wouldn't/won't be at all surprised to still see Pronger there in 2010, he'll still only be 35, and a healthy 35 year old Pronger is still a lot better than most defensemen.

I'd say you can guarentee Phaneuf will be there ;)

Barring a serious injury, I agree that at 35, Pronger would still be the 4,5, or 6 guy on the Blueline. But if he's got a broken foot in 2010, HE STAYS HOME!:D

Pronger
Bouwmeester
Redden
Niedermayer and Jovanovski will both likely get another chance.
Phaneuf, definately.
Stuart, may get a shot.
Brent Seabrook, Dan Hamhuis, Marc Staal and Kurtis Foster are my Longshots, on D.

Gagne - Thornton - Cheechoo
Tanguay - Crosby - Iginla
Staal - Spezza - Heatley
Hartnell - Lecavalier - Richards

Phaneuf - Redden
Niedermayer- Seabrook
Pronger - Bouwmeester

Luongo
Fleury
Turco

Marleau, Perry, Stuart

I almost gaurantee Tanguay wont be there. Somebody who hasnt made their first significant team by his current age never will.

I hope to god Nash is never on another Team Canada. If he is it is a gaurantee Canada will not win the gold medal.

I am surprised so many think Brodeur wont be there, but we will see. I agree Fleury could be on the team. I gaurantee Theo will never be on a Team Canada, thank goodness.

Team Canada is a tough line up to crack. I would have sent him to Turino, with Phaneuf instead of Bouwmeester and Boyle.

I don't know. It looks like Tanguay will be the offensive leader on Colorado for the next few seasons. That should get him some votes.

I totally gapped on Nash. I'm going to have to edit that post. Or maybe not.

I think Brodeur will do what Patrick Roy did. He will step aside so the next guy in line can take over.

I dont think it would mean much since it would just be taken as a side Sakic is aging and in decline playing-wise due to his age, and Colorado as a team wont have much success anyway likely.

No your instincts probably told you to leave him out, even if you werent thinking about him at the time, putting him on another Team Canada would be a huge mistake. He is pretty useless.

I am surprised nobody so far has Bergeron on it. I think he is pretty much a lock to be on the next Olympic team personaly.
