Veteran sports broadcaster Chris Cuthbert is joining Canada's No. 1 sports and conventional broadcasters TSN and CTV.
Cuthbert joins the network June 1 as part of a five year deal which will see him call CFL and hockey broadcasts as well as be a valuable addition to the CTV/TSN Olympic broadcast team in 2010.
"Chris brings a tremendous profile to the CTV/TSN team and is recognized as a true star in the sports broadcast industry in this country," said Rick Brace, President of CTV Inc.
"TSN is a perfect fit for me since two of the network's marquee properties - football and hockey - are two of my greatest passions," said Cuthbert. "The entire TSN team has been extremely supportive and welcoming. I can't wait to get started."
TSN President Phil King confirmed that Cuthbert, a 20-plus-year sports broadcasting authority, will be TSN's primary voice of the CFL on TSN, paired with longtime colour commentator Glen Suitor. His TSN debut will be June 11, when the CFL makes a pre-season stop in Halifax for the Touchdown Atlantic game. In all, Cuthbert and Suitor will call 35 of TSN's 54 CFL broadcasts this season. Cuthbert joins TSN's esteemed CFL broadcast team comprised of Suitor, John Wells, Rod Black, Leif Petterson and the immensely popular studio panel of Dave Randorf, Chris Schultz and Jock Climie. Together the group has turned the CFL on TSN into a formidable broadcast franchise, anchored by the highly acclaimed fan favourite, Wendy's Friday Night Football.
