4.25M per season. Very good deal, espcially considering how long it is. He's the better of Toronto's two big blueliners IMO. I said it at season's start and I maintain that, even if McCabe has the flashy offensive figures.

Best contract Toronto has signed someone to in a long, long time. Kaberle is a legit #1 defenseman in this league, especially in the "new" NHL.

Good signing. Locks up our best defensemen for 5 years. I wouldn't mind the team getting McCabe done as well, but he'll probably ask for too much money. He's a solid number 3 defensemen (on a good team) that can tear it up on the power play, but he'll be looking to be paid like an elite dman. Let him be some other team's mistake.

Decent signing, Kaberle is a very good puck moving defencemen and I think he has improved his defensive play this year. Now if he could get that cannon of a shot off more, it would be even better :thumb:

Now hopefully the cap goes up a couple million and it will make the signing even better, especially since we'll have another 6 million in the bank when we give the Eagle the 'ol heave ho at the end of the year.

I think the 5 years is probably the best part of this deal for the Leafs. I haven't watched many Leafs games this year, but from what I've heard he seems to be worth the money he's getting. Good move by Toronto, and it's also nice to see another player deciding to stay with his team long term.:thumb:

Its nice to see Kaberle signed for 5 yrs but at $4.25 mil a yr I think thats a bit too much.I'm really suprised to see that he also got a no-trade clause.I guess I should stop my complaining because JFJ finally did something!:D

Very good news. I think we have to lock up Mccabe aswell though. They co-exist IMO. One needs the other just as much as the other needs them. An excellent tandem that I'd like to see here for even more years to come. With the young defencemen starting to show up, our D could look good one day

Great news. Kaberle has taken his game to a new level this year after struggling in the 2003-2004 season. That year in Czech Republic really helped his game alot and it's good to know he'll be a Leaf for a long time. Now onto McCabe!

His Brother in Carolina is a UFA at seasons end. Might be a decen pickup and cheap.
