I hardly follow Association basketball anymore, so I didn't hear about this until this afternoon and was obviously shocked. And I don't like Kobe, but wow.

Kobe Bryant becomes only the second player EVER to score more than 80 points in a game. Only Wilt Chamberlain had more with his 100 point game back in the 1960s. Just think about that - in 44 years no one was able to break the 80 barrier, until last night in Los Angeles.

This is a sports moment that will not be occuring again for a long time.

I seen the game, and that was the most amazing performance I have ever seen in any sport. He just dominated. At one point in the 2nd half, Kobe was outscoring the raptors 41-31. Is that even real? Just unbelievable. This arguement has been brought up on other boards..

MJ or Kobe? I'd still have to go with MJ but I think eventually Kobe could.. COULD surpass him as one of the NBA's all time greats.

Also, food for thought. When Chamberlain had 100 points, there were no 3 pointers.

Wow I don't pay attention to B-Ball much either but are you kidding me???

He sunk 80+ in one game???

Holy crap! That's insane.

As for comparision to MJ... which guy has won more NBA titles? Individual stats are impressive but true winners rise to the top when it counts, and carry their teams.

There was also no three in the key rule ;)

Amazing accomplishment by Kobe. I suppose you could say he really raped the Raptors.

Yeah, there was no 3 in the key rule because they weren't sick of Wilt dominating the game yet.

Great performance and he was on fire and blah, blah, blah. I still hate the man with a passion and until he learns that needs to get the rest of the team involved he won't be winning anymore championships any time soon. Well, unless they sign one of the dominating big men. To even compare a selfish, me me me, player like Kobe Bryant to Micheal Jordan makes me sick. I've also heard that this accomplishment is greater than Chamberlain's 100, some people just give this guy too much credit.

While Kobe is a great player, I don't think he is in the top 5 players right now and shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as some of the all-time greats.

He will never match Wilt Chamberlain's two BIG records ;) :pimp:

Kobe's married so he can't admit to even trying to get to one of those records. 20,000 is damned good. I might be able to beat that in a few hundred lifetimes. That's like 3 a night, 333 nights a year, for 20 years.
Gene Simmons from KISS says he's over 4000.
I tip my hat to you both.

Remember, MJ could play defense.

Oh and somebody else posted this response to somebody on another message board:

That's because Kobe doesn't take "no" for an answer. He'll penetrate the lane and take it to the hole as he pleases, even against the defense's wishes.

LMAO!!!!!

Bryant was 28-46 (.609) from the field, the rest of the team was 14-42 (.333). Just goes to show how bad the team around him is: I mean the Lakers suck. They're the second best team in Los Angeles right now and he's still able to do that.
