Top prospect looking at options to NHL
Top junior prospect Sidney Crosby's interest in Europe is more that cursory.
His agent has begun talking to teams in Sweden, Switzerland and Russia. The prospect has said previously he may not wait for the NHL and players' association to reach a labor agreement.
"I'm not saying he's going to go to Europe for sure, but it's clearly an option," agent Pat Brisson told the Times. "We'll have to make some decisions in the early part of June."
Crosby, 17, led the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League in scoring with Rimouski Oceanic.
Earlier this month he won the Michel Briere Trophy as league MVP and the Telus Offensive Player of the Year award.
Crosby also won the Jean Beliveau Trophy as the league's leading scorer, the Michael Bossy Trophy as the top pro prospect, and the Paul Dumont Trophy as the personality of the year.
