View Full Version : Game Day Talk
Since it seems there hasn't really been a daily thread for games, here's one where we could talk about whatever game we're in if want to.
I think tonights game was a big win. Even though it was a struggling Pens team, it was good to put them away and get the 2 points while Minny and Edmonton lost, so in the end it all helps.

A win is a win, what I liked was that they didn't let the Pens back into the game, although it was iffy on Recchi's goal late in the 2nd. Auld has at least one bad goal (ala Cloutier) a game. I am still not sold on him as the goal tender to take these guys anywhere in the playoffs.

Yeah, Auld has a knack for allowing one bad goal a game. He is proving to be a solid tandem netminder..with potential for a solid No.1 down the line.
What he needs is someone to help him share the load..not just a backup. Someone to push him, to become even better.
Do I think we can go far with him, in the playoffs? No. This is why I think Nonis will make a move.
BTW, the loss of Cloutier may hurt more than you'd think. He was a vocal guy in the dressing room, and brought a lot of leadership. Perhaps this accounts to the recent woes?

I saw somewhere that both San Jose goalies and both Wild goalies are UFA at the end of the season, and that my personal fave Toskala is "only" making about $640k this season, pick up the phone and call Doug Wilson, Nonis! A change of scenary might do some good for Vesa.
As for Cloutier being good in the dressing room, he might be, but there are others who should be doing the talking and leading.

I also like Toskala. Tonight I was watching a program on The Score. They had that analyst Pierre LeBrun on the show. He mentioned that scouts from the Canucks were at some SJ games..and that the Canucks could be interested in Toskala.
Well, I've read thru what SJ fans think of Toskala. Most seem to think he has great potential, and many would like to keep him over Nabokov
So, basically..your right..Nonis should make a deal. Toskala started the season slowly, but has really turned it on as of late.
Then play Auld and Toskala on a tandem basis
