View Full Version : The return of Big Joe
Tomorrow Tuesday January 10th
San Jose Sharks @ Boston Bruins :pimp:
A lot of guys will want to make a statement in this game, and this will be there only chance. I'm thinking big Joe comes out with guns blazing. (that's why I laid 100 on him this week in the gambling pool)

I bet Joe gets a standing O from the "crowd" at Fleet Center, I think most good Boston fans know that this trade was a salary dump by the Jacobs crew and nothing to do with Joe.
And he gets kicked out for a hit on Hal Gill.
Haven't seen the hit yet, but word from NESN is that Thornton checked up on Gill during an intermission, where Gill said it was just a good, hard hit and that he had no ill feelings towards Joe.
Gotta love when ref's decide to take control of the game
He got tossed ??? AGGGGHHHH!!!!
that's gonna cost me in the gambling pool. :(

The 6-foot-4, 223-pound Thornton was just behind the 6-7, 250-pound Gill when they chased the puck into the corner. Thornton actually hit Gill on his left side then stepped over him and was assessed a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct by referee Chris Rooney.
What a damn shame.

Saw the hit.. terrible call.
Exact quote from Hal Gill "I could see giving him 2 minutes if you want some control.. maybe 4, if you're really worried.. but there is no way he should've been kicked ouf ot the game for that hit."

Yes that was a terrble call, there are always hits like that in the NHL, and Hal Gill was expecting the hit.
