Why?

Stupidity at it's finest.. now you'll just have people sneaking in hard liquor.

I wonder if anyone will demand a refund for their ticket?

The Meadowlands has a long history of nothing but trouble. Last time a state trooper got injured and 2 people got stabbed?... That's normal out there. Especially at Jet (and Giant) games... but more so the Jets. I don't blame them for banning alcohol now that the Jets are officially going through the motions of yet another pathetic season.

New England fans come down for these games (at least now that the Patriots are a good team) and there have been stabbing and shooting incidents involving Boston fans in recent years (including a few from the dumps I grew up in). So I think this is a very good idea.

The last time I went to a Giant game, about 2-3 years ago, the place was over-run with gangs of kids who just wanted to fight everybody. Everybody was drunk. Jet fans are even worse... led by that loser jackass fireman who leads the J-E-T-S chants.

The Meadowlands is also fairly notorious for hiring gangs of goons who basically run around the parking lots and beat the crap out of anyone they want. They're not cops... just hired guys who get yellow jackets and patrol the parking lot during pre-event activities.

I went to a concert there in the 80's. Honestly I can't remember who it was... but I do remember that the drunken crowd got rowdy because they weren't letting us in fast enough. So people inside started kicking open all the doors that were locked from the inside and everybody bum-rushed. I walked in (unaware) and I kid you not... some 4 foot tall old lady started smacking the crap out of me with a broom because I walked in the wrong door :D

I later found out that a kid died that night after being tossed from a highway overpass (yellow jackets I presume, and it was not clear if he died before or after landing on the highway). And the next concert had some extra 500 NJ state troopers. (for those unaware - do not EVER mess with a NJ state trooper... take my word for it, you will be sorry you did).

As much as I love alcohol, I agree with this decision.

As much as I love alcohol, I agree with this decision.I also agree, simply because I am only three days removed from attending a primetime NFL game and seeing what people do in a 70000 seat stadium.

On Saturday night, beer sales were cut off early in the second quarter even though they advertise that they sell until the start of the third. That was the right decision, because people had already spent several hours, if not the entire day, outside the stadium getting drunk in the parking lots.

There were two fights in my section alone (all people involved were Bills' fans) and it was a small sized section compared to others at that stadium. During the game it was rare not to see a swarm of the afformentioned "yellow jackets" CSC guys swarming in on various points, because of fights and other out of control, drunken behaviour.

Three big reasons why alcohol should be banned from this game:
- This is a rivalry game. There won't only be fights between fans of the same teams, but Jets/Pats fans hate each other.
- This is a primetime game. There's more time to tailgate and drink before entering the stadium than a normal 1:00 p.m. start.
- The Jets suck this season and this is their last home game. There is no doubt that "fans" will use this an excuse to be rowdy and throw their weight around.

People are generally idiots when drunk. They would be better off selling joints than beer. A lot less violence, and increased food sales. :D

That's what I would do.:thumb: I did it for many football matches in England and that is far more interesting than anything the NFL has to offer.

It's not a big deal. The people who go to sporting events and only have one or two beers won't even care that alcohol won't be being served. As for the others, in many cases they'll have already chugged a few down in parking lot before the game anyways.
