SERIES HEADS SOUTH DOWN I-81

The Binghamton Senators boarded a bus this morning and headed south on Interstate 81 for game 3 of the East Division Semifinal series against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Binghamton holds a 2-0 lead in the series after beating the Penguins 5-2 on Friday and 4-2 on Saturday.

Binghamton forward Charlie Stephens has been the catalyst so far for Binghamton with three goals in two games after scoring seven goals during the 2004-05 regular season. Also providing key contributions has been center Jason Spezza has continued his torrid pace and now has points in 22 straight games dating back to the regular season. Gritty forward Chris Neil has points in two straight games and set a new franchise record by scoring the fastest goal from the start of a period (49 seconds into the third period) on Saturday night.

Goalie Ray Emery has also been a key ingredient in the Sens early success. He finished the regular season by winning seven straight games and was named Koho AHL Goaltender of the Month for April by the American Hockey League. In two playoff games so far Emery has stopped 62 of 66 shots for a goals-against average of 2.00 and a save percentage of .939.
Binghamton will look to run their winning streak against the Penguins to 10 games tonight in Wilkes-Barre. Game time is 7:05 p.m. and you can catch all of the action on 680-AM WINR beginning at 6:35 p.m. with the voice of the Senators, Grady Whittenburg.
