In other developments that affect the Devils' salary cap-afflicted roster, star LW Patrik Elias enjoyed a full practice with the team as his road to recovery from a severe case of hepatitis draws near an end. Robinson also said that defenseman Vladimir Malakhov, who was not at practice, has retired. The Russian blueliner was signed as a free agent last summer to help fill the void left by the departed Scott Stevens and Scott Niedermayer.

Good news for the Devils. Malakhov was just not getting it done out there. He came back to the Devils because of Robinson, and with Larry resigning there wasn't any need to stay around. Throw in the Elias news, and this is a much better day for Devils fans than I thought it would be. I'm guessing Elias should be back in 2-3 weeks.:thumb:
