There is more to the Winter Olympics than just 'ice' hockey (see above). Canada may not win squat when it comes to the Summer Olympics, but the medal count can be right up there in the winter. Go for gold, Regan!

Canadian Heritage and Fashion Trends Come Together in Hbc's Canadian Olympic Team Uniforms for Torino 2006
Canada's Olympic Team at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games this February in Torino, Italy will be sporting uniforms designed and developed by Hudson's Bay Company (Hbc). The Hbc uniform package combines the best of fashion and function, with a distinct take on both Canadian heritage and modern, high tech, high performance winter sports wear.
The Canadian Olympic Team uniforms were unveiled today by Hbc and the Canadian Olympic Committee at the Fort York Armoury in Toronto at a gala celebration including Canadian Olympic athletes, guests and Hbc associates. The items seen for the first time at the event included team wear - items the athletes will wear during the 2006 Olympic Winter Games - as well as select replica wear items (the clothing line inspired by the athletes' uniforms that will be available to the public in Hbc stores across Canada). Special Olympic-themed boutiques will open this week in Hbc stores across the country, including the Bay, Zellers and Home Outfitters.

Uhmmmm...I don't think this line of clothing is going to go over too well. Not like the Roots stuff did in previous Winter Olympics.

Yeah, those boots and hats really look "modern, high-tech and high performance"... :conspire:
Great, let's perpetuate the myth that Canadians are a bunch of Elmer Fudds. :burning: Suprised they didn't make snowshoes part of the uniform. As usual, the Bay is right out to lunch.

I hope Canadians dont make it overly negative if Canada ends up 4th in the medal tally again. I dont think that type of attitude is one to attract young kids to target elite sport. I know we are ambitious and want to do well, I hope we do even better than 4th, but 4th in the total medal tally was treated like some sort of disaester last time, when in fact it matched our best ever showing, and it was the most medals we won. I just hate the negativity of Canadian media, when in alot of the sports they give them ZERO attention between Olympics anyway. Of course hockey is the big sport in Canada, and I have no problem with that since I like watching hockey. However all I am saying is for the attention and funding some sports gets they should be thankful the athletes produce what they do, instead of so critical.
