The sharks have had some great goaltending the last few years. They always seem to have one good goalie after another coming through the system. They just sent the next one back to the minors.

Sharks reassign G Schaefer to Cleveland

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - The San Jose Sharks reassigned goalie Nolan Schaefer to Cleveland of the American Hockey League on Thursday.

Schaefer made a promising NHL debut this season, going 5-1-0 with a 1.88 goals-against average and a .920 save percentage in seven games.

He was the first San Jose goalie to win in his first five appearances, and he got his first career shutout Nov. 4, beating Anaheim 1-0.

Schaefer was recalled from Cleveland when Evgeni Nabokov and Vesa Toskala were slowed by injuries in October, but both goalies are back in playing shape.

This guy could make Toskala or Nabokov expendable.
