Vokoun is the defensive winner after recording a 1.30 goals-against average and .952 save percentage.

Goaltenders Martin Biron of the Buffalo Sabres (3-0-0, 2.35 GAA), Ilya Bryzgalov of the Anaheim Mighty Ducks and John Grahame of the Tampa Bay Lightning were runners-up for the defensive award.

Vokoun turned aside all 31 shots in a 2-0 victory against Calgary last Tuesday, stopped 19 shots in a 2-1 victory against the Minnesota Wild on Thursday and made 30 saves in a 4-3 shootout victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday.

Vokoun leads NHL goaltenders in victories, posting a 15-4-2 record, 2.40 goals-against average and .924 save percentage in 21 appearances.

Vokoun is having a great year, and is a major reason why Nashville is a force. This guy is totally underrated, and will soon become a household name.

Good for you Vokoun! :)

He is a very good goalie in a very quiet market. If he were in Detroit or New York or Toronto it would be "Vokoun for Vezina" already. Way to go Tomas!:thumb:

A wisenhiemer eh?:D

Good for Vokun and the Preds. As Charlio said if he played in a big market there would be more Vokun for the Vezina talk than there is McCabe for the Norris.

This guy is AWESOME and so underrated. I thought the Czechs were crazy to not play him in the semis at the Olympics. So he had one bad period vs Canada, so you sit this NHL elite goalie who won you the NHL player-availabe World Championships the year before in favor of a player who would be hard pressed to even be an NHL backup.

If he were playing somewhere else he would get much more Vezina and even Hart consideration than he does.
