Brutally inconsistent reffing yet again in the first, literally just a minute or two of 5-5, quota is doing it's job. Cloutier's looked sharp and I don't blame him one bit for taking some shots at Niedermayer, what a @#$%ing joke, somebody needs to tune Lupul in big time, where's a power forward when you need one.

Well, 2-1 Canucks after 2

Linden with the penalty shot goal

Yoata
11-20-05, 5:47 PM
And as bad as the reffing was in the first, it was 10x worse in the second, absolute GARBAGE penalties both ways, and the result was without question the WORST 2 periods of "hockey" (if you can even call it that) I have ever seen at a level higher than junior B.

Anybody who thinks this is an improvement over anything (including a game of hichschool basketball) has no clue what hockey is about, that sh!t is an embarrassment to the league and the game in general.

Pure, uncured, donkey CRAP is what this "new" NHL is.:burning:

Are you still watching the game?

Actually I didn't watch much of it at all (actually I shouldn't say that, I watched it, just didn't listen to it, was on the phone most of the 3rd period talking to another hockey fan about what garbage hockey we were watching), but it's kind of like a train wreck at this point, you don't watch it because it's good, you watch it because you wonder how much worse it can get.

Did you watch this game?

Off and on between Als/Argos game.
Saw Cloutier get run over twice, that was bad. As far as officiating goes I haven?t watched a game with 'good' reffing all year, there's not much more to be said about it. I think everyone's covered it.

TimmyTabasco

Well, it wasn't a pretty game..but the Canucks got the win. A win is a win, no doubts about it.

Salo had a good game, with 2 goals. He and Ohlund were solid out there. Also, the Sedins played a strong game.

Cloutier rebounded from the LA game, and played strong.

Onto the next

Sorry, but if you didn't watch this game, then you don't know what I mean, yes the reffing's been bad most of the season, worse lately, but this was something else, it was totally atrocious, an absolute embarrassment to the game.

And Cloutier got run over at least 4-5 times, which seems to be the only kind of contact allowed in today's "new and improved" NHL:confused:

The game was basically decided by a completely ridiculous penalty shot call, and that's was one of the less pathetic calls made all game.

Oh and btw, Floatuzzi was all but invisible yet again, especially when Anaheim was taking liberties all over the ice, and all big bad bert did was turn away, :thumb: must be taking lessons from Linden.

See that's just it TT, I don't give a sh!t whether they won or lost, who can care when they are playing this crappy form of basketball on ice instead of the game of hockey that I love.

You move on if you want, but don't tell me what to do.

Maybe if you cared as much about the game itself as you do about making excuses for your underacheiving Canuck "stars" you'd have a clue what I'm talking about.

And btw, that bit about Floatuzzi is horsesh!t and you know it, when he played 2 good periods against Detroit, I gave him the credit he deserved, but I also said I'd be surpised if he kept playing like he was capapble of, and aside from ~10 whole minutes since then, I was right. Take off the rose colored glasses and try calling it like it is for once.

Good for you, but that's you, and I'm me (thankfully), and it's called caring about the game that I've watched and loved my whole life.

You want to see it turned into basketball on ice, good for you, I'm sure you're Bettman's biggest fan, but not me, I actually like watching HOCKEY.

The leaf-thrasher game had some bad officiating last night too. The leafs had 2 PP's where old Bob and Harry were wondering where the penalty was. Once the phantom calls are gone, all will be well IMO.

I agree, I watched part of that game and there were some brutal calls, but seriously, this Canuck game took it to a whole new level, you could just see it on the faces of ALL the players that none of them know what is allowed and what isn't anymore, and that's because of the very simple fact that it isn't hockey anymore.

I know you were kidding, but it was also in a superior tone, and you do tell people what to do, you're always saying stuff like "that's the way it is so lay off" "move on", "enough", etc as if you can't handle anybody being critical of the Canucks.

It's not as if I jump the gun and start ragging on players right away, but after Bertuzzi playing as weak as he has for as long as he has, you start watching to see when he'll finally do something, but then yet again, he doesn't do a damn thing except make lousy passes and float around. Same with Jovanovski, I had high hopes for him this year with the new rules, but it's just made him look even worse defensively, but yet, when he or Bertuzzi, or Cloutier, or Linden play well, I mention that as well, it's just more often the other way, so as I said, I call it like I see it.

I can handle people being critical of the Canucks. As I said, in the past I have been very critical of many members of the team. Just ask teabag or Burns. But anyway, as I said..its your opinion..and your entitled to it

Jovo has been below average this season, very inconsistent. Some games he plays great, and others he does not. Is it because he sat out a year? I don't know. But he must improve his play for the Canucks to succeed.

33 penalities for 20 powerplays, jeez.

Linden got a penalty shot for some reason that is unclear to me. Linden was far from on a breakaway.

Ducks ran Cloutier and got 2 minute penalties, I'm think suspensions for intent to injure are in order.

Canucks defense continues to be solid.

PK great, PP 1 for 10 is not good enough.

Canucks top line should be the A S S line until Naslund, Bertuzzi and Morrison wake up. The Westcoast Express is currently running way behind schedule.

Linden rules during 5 on 3 penalty kills, good to see he's useful for something.

Happy to see Brookbank not playing, he was killing an already factured Canucks defense.

IT knows on all accounts, although if Brookbank actually made somebody pay for the cheap crap Anaheim was pulling, he'd have been the only Canuck to do anything, that I was totally disappointed with.

Yep, 40 mins in penalties and most of that was in the 1st 2 periods, where there was barely a minute or two of 5-5.

As far as the officiating goes, that was one of the more brutal games I've watched in awhile. The thing that bothers me the most is the inconsistency. They called everything under the sun in the first two periods, but I saw players do the exact same things in the third period, and yet the refs let them play. That late goalie interference call on Fedoruk was absolutely brutal.

All that being said, dwelling on the officiating isn't going to change anything, especially if you're a Canucks fan. Like the Devils against the Sens on Saturday, I don't think Anaheim should have been anywhere close to winning this game, especially with all the inexperience on the Ducks roster. I think Vancouver took them a little too easily today, but they still managed to get a win out of it.

Watching Scott Niedermayer skate all over the place in this game, it makes me remember what it is the Devils defense is missing this year.:(

I have to agree that having Brookbank in the lineup would have resulted in only one attempt by the Ducks to take out Cloutier. After Brookbank beat Rob Niedermayer senseless, I doubt Lupul would have pulled the same garbage.

Kind of sad when Cloutier is the one fighting back. Why weren't any of the five other Canucks going after Niedermayer? The linesmen couldn't hold onto everyone. It's called standing up for your goalie and I wouldn't care who it was, just show Cloutier some support. Even if it was one of the top line, the Sedins, Linden, Park, anyone, even Crawford coming off the bench.

Once again, IT knows, I'm no Cloutier fan, but FCS that's your goaltender man, you've got to protect him. I used to tell my peewees that they should pretend their goalie was their little sister, and it worked well, nobody got close enough to him to bump him. ;) Then again, maybe the Canucks players don't have much use for Cloutier, but even if I felt like that, no way I let another player take liberties, that just should not happen, and I was very disappointed that Jovo, Allen, Ohlund, Bertuzzi, Ruutu or anybody else, wouldn't take them to task for it the first time it happened, let alone the 4th or 5th time.
