I don't want to go off on a rant here........but why isn't there an up in arms mentality over this hit the way there was over Moore on Nasland? IMO the plays are almost identical.

Did anyone happen to catch the tail end of Coaches Corner this past weekend? If not you can see it here (http://cbc.ca/clips/rm-lo/coach051112.rm). You will need realplayer.

They compare Begins hit on Maxime Talbot to Moore on Nasland. The NHL even reversed the match penalty given to Begin!! Talbot himself said it was a good hit, didn't Nasland pretty much say the same thing?

Does Andre Roy dress for the Pens on Jan 3rd? http://www.hockeyforums.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Is Talbot the current leading scorer of the NHL? ;)

I didn't find the hits identical, but thats just me

Again, I bet Cherry wouldn't be comparing the hits if his angel Sundin was the one hit :thumb:

The Naslund hit didn't look as bad as the other one. But either way Naslund is a superstar and will always get protected and if he gets hurt the reason he got hurt will be criticized.

Well said. The superstar status is so lame. The notion of having to protect them makes them look like wimps.

Hmmm...I wonder where Don was when Nash laid out Peca. I don't recall hearing a word from him about it...

Both hits were legal. I won't get into why one caused an up roar and the other didn't, but there's nothing illegal about KO'ing a guy with your shoulder if he's stupid enough to reach like that. It's perfectly within' the rules. Yes, you risk having to pay the price later for taking advantage of a player in a vulnrable position. But anyone who says it isn't legal needs to read the rulebook again.

First of all, whether it's "legal" or not doesn't make it clean or anything but a cheap, classless, dangerous, dirty play. Apparently Pucker's taking out Peca's knee was "legal" too, but it was also disgusting and chickensh!t, and so was the hit on Naslund, and this one too if it was similar.

Secondly, what happened to the league crackdown on deliberate hits to the head? Guess all the numerous concussions over the last few years are all but forgotten, until some poor bastard winds up a vegetable or a quadraplegic due to a "legal" headshot.

If it were Sakic on the receiving end of a head shot or Rob Blake getting a knee on knee I am sure you would be singing a different tune.

Sorry but I couldn't sit through more than two minutes of Don Cherry. Those of you that know me know how I feel about the Moore Naslund hit as a what Bertuzzi did.

:toast:

They were both headshots. Interestingly enough, it's okay if Rick Nash gives out one, but not if Steve Begin does.
