Decent game tonight, Rags came up short but kept it close coming from 3-0 to 3-2 in the third (3-2 final).

The Rangers really need help on the blue line offensively. It showed tonight and possibly cost them a point or even a win. Poti still blows, I wish they would trade him. Rozsival and Kondratiev both made bad mistakes at bad times, especially late in the third. Even Tyutin was a liability at times.

They really have to make a move for a PP point man, maybe not right this second, but that should be high on their wish list.

Marcel Hossa got leveled coming across the blue line in the third. You might see that on the highlight reels / video collages... what you probably won't see is that Hossa jumped right up and buried a rebound behind Caron about 3 seconds later to cut the lead to 3-2.

Crosby looked awesome. This kid really is going to be something special. He's fun to watch.

Oh and how did I watch this game? I was flipping through the channels and there it was, some obscure channel carrying OLN! After all my complaining, I was pleasantly surprised. I don't know why it was on, I never paid for it.

Since JD was the color man, it was almost like watching a regular Rangers home game :)

I watched this one Smelly.
I gotta say, I'm still not sold on the Rangers (not that you really care most likely, it's o.k I forgive you). Like you said their blue line is pretty thin, and I'd imagine by mid season the Top 4 will be completely burnt out.
Palffy's winner was weak on Weekes (ba-doom-bing).
I'd almost say they were a 1 line team with average goaltending and below average blueliners...

No that's pretty accurate. The fact that guys like Ryan Hollweg, Jason Ward and Marcel Hossa led the 3rd period comeback charge... that shows a lack of depth, because these are borderline AHL guys, who can not be counted on every night. Although I do think Caron played very well.

Palffy goal was weak, but Weekes did stop that Palffy penalty shot. The blueline does need major help. You saw it. That's their biggest hole right now.

No worries ferret, I was never "sold" on this team. Actually I was expecting last place all the way... so I'm just enjoying them win more games than they lose for the moment.

Even though last night might seem like nothing to get excited about, that loss was still better than watching any game of the few previous seasons. So the obvious holes in this roster don't bother me so much... it will take time to re-build no getting around it. In the mean time I love the speed and work ethic of this team, a huge improvement over the 70+ million version. :)

PS - I think they should give Lundqvist the starting job and relegate Weekes to be an adequate backup. A few years out when they aquire / develop the right players to become a force, I'd like Lundqvist to be an established #1... I mean we're rebuilding right? So let's start with goal, he's got better nums than Weekes anyway.

Well.... they pulled two points out of their a$$ tonight. LOL

Fluke game-tying goal on Luongo with 3 seconds left... and then the Rangers win the shootout

Hell, I'll take it... but these guys (Rangers) gotta stay out of the box for crying out loud!

If they didn't have the 2nd best PK in the league right now, they would be a sunken ship already.

MSG network went dead right between end of regulation and the shootout. I think Comcast had something to do with it :conspire:

The florida station quickly made their broadcast available to MSG so the shoot out was seen in full to the MSG audience. Good stuff. :thumb:

(we're gaining on you ferret LOL)
