The Toronto Maple Leafs got some good news on Friday when Mats Sundin was cleared to play. He will suit up Saturday when the Leafs host the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Sundin, who has been out of the lineup since October 5th, was practicing with Jeff O'Neill and Alexei Ponikarovsky on Friday.
''Yes, I just talked to the coach, I felt good today so yeah, I'm going to try and play tomorrow,'' Maple Leafs centre Mats Sundin told the Canadian Press Friday after practice, on the eve of Toronto's game with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The Leafs' captain was hurt just seven minutes into Toronto's first game of the season against the Ottawa Senators when a shot from the point caught Sundin just below the left eye.
He immediately dropped to the ice and covered his bloody face while rolling around in pain. He lost complete vision in the eye for five minutes and it took a few days for the blood to clear. Sundin also suffered a fractured orbital bone.
