View Full Version : Bruins @ Leafs - Oct. 24th

After a rough loss to the Flyers on Saturday, the Leafs look to rebound tonight against the Bruins. This will mark the return to Toronto for players like Leetch, Fitzgerald and Green all of whom wore Leafs jerseys not so long ago. Thornton has returned to the lineup for the Bs and tore it up on Saturday, so it'll be important for the Leafs to focus on defensive zone coverage and not allow second chances by getting the puck out when they have a chance. Bruins will more then likely start Raycroft and Leafs should counter with the Eagle, and the Big E will attempt to run his goal scoring streak to 6 consecutive games with a goal. Should be a good one :thumb:

Leafs win 5-4 in a Shootout. They got into some serious penalty trouble late, but the PP was fantastic and Eddie Belfour made up for brain cramp early in the 3rd and saved the game and helped get 2 more points. Leafs blew a 2 goal lead, but that's not much of a surprise in the new NHL and it's how you respond which is going to decide how the team does. McCaber got another 2 points and now is tied for the league lead in points, when has a Leaf defenceman even been in the top 5, top 10 even? Tough to believe it, but it's true:thumb:

The Leafs were horribly outshot again tonight. Eddie stepped up big in the clutch. Did anyone else see the Domi goal? It was quite something. We won a shootout! Doesn't change my opinion of it though.
What a horrible way to get a win. A great end to the 3rd, a fantastic overtime and then a shoot out. Tragic.
The seats were filled to the end of the game, including the shootout. When was the last time that happened at Air Canada Centre? Yay for exciting shootout.
I am not too excited to write it, but I will admit it - Toronto has something here. I don't know what, but they are an imressive and exciting team. Tonight they played a good game in this new style of NHL; one of the best I have seen from the TML this season.
Good job even getting into overtime (stopping the 5-on-3), then playing a solid five minutes and taking that momentum to win the shootout.

Yeah, I was reading that over and for a second I had to do a double take to remind myself who was writing it
Anyways I can't argue his point, for some reason every game this team plays is a tight contest that has it's fair share of chances both ways. It's a fun new game and that goalie rule almost burned us badly tonight, as well as the crackdown... and how's this for a tough division... 4 teams tied for 1st at this moment with Boston only 3 points behind. We may see 5 teams make the playoffs from this division which would be awesome, it is a longshot, but would be great.

Sure, Eddie made 49 saves which is spectacular, but the goals he let in....
Mccabe keeps on rolling with another 2 points. Thats 15 on the year for him now.

I didn't catch any of this game but it sounded like a good one. Also sounded like a very stressful last 5 min for leaf fans. McCabe still continues to impress me with is offensive abilities and from the looks of it has matured too. Maybe turning 30 and having a baby has taught him the virtue of sportsmanship and keeping brain farts to himself =]
Big win for the leafs

Yup, those Leafs know how to keep you on the edge of your seat. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I believe that the Leafs have scored the first goal of every game so far, and in most games I believe the first two goals. So, theoredically, if Quinn would do what everyone excpects him to do, by beefing up the defense, we should be able to win every game going forward=]. We shouldn't be letting leads go like this every game. It's just killing me. Shoot out still has to go Leafs go...

Yah so far so good with the new look of the leafs... Doing better then most expected even without their captain. If everything pans out I hope for a Leaf vs Sens Confrence final
Kind of early for that but it would be great =]

If history repeats then yes... But in Hockey these things tend to not repeat themselves at the worse time. Which would make it that much sweeter. =]

It would be an awesome series and would be great for hockey. It'd almost be hockey's equivalent to the Yankees vs the Sox.
