Offense
Left Tackle: Bruce Beaton - Edmonton Eskimos: He came out of retirement to make an 18-game contribution. It was not necessarily his best season, but he filled a need that the Eskimos had this year.
Left Guard: Val St. Germain - Ottawa Renegades: Played guard and tackle through all the crazy off-field issues. He was steady and consistent.
Centre: Chad Folk - Toronto Argonauts: Anyone who can play with two ACL reconstructions - one on each leg - has to be an All-Star for his determination alone.
Right Guard: Fred Childress - Saskatchewan Roughriders: Fred is closer to 40 years old than to 30, but has played like a 20-something, which is quite the accomplishment.
Right Tackle: Jeff Pilon - Calgary Stampeders: He has the best first step kick slide in the CFL. Jeff shows up and plays well every week.
Wide Receiver: Geroy Simon - B.C. Lions: The best big play wide-out in the CFL.
Wide Receiver: Jason Tucker - Edmonton Eskimos: Maybe the second-best big play wide-out in the CFL.
Slot Back: Robert Baker - Toronto Argonauts: Tough guy to control, he intimidates defensive backs even when he doesn't have the ball.
Slot Back: Derrell Mitchell - Edmonton Eskimos: Usually when players are traded or released near the end of their careers they fade away. Mitchell seems rejuvenated in Edmonton.
Running Back: Antonio Warren - B.C. Lions: Does everything well. He runs inside and outside and catches the ball shallow or deep. Not as dominant blocking like Troy Davis, but he doesn't back down from anyone.
Full Back: Julian Radlein - Hamilton Tiger-Cats: In a position that is not used by all teams, Radlein is the best 1-on-1 isolation blocker vs. linebackers.
Quarterback: Anthony Calvillo - Montreal Alouettes: Closing in on having four 1000-yard receivers and throwing for 6000 yards again. He has elevated his play as Montreal has changed their defence.
Defence
Defensive Tackle: Sheldon Napastuk - Calgary Stampeders: Doesn't get the recognition that other players do, but has had his second straight year as a force.
Defensive Tackle: Noah Cantor - Toronto Argonauts: Quietly productive. On every play, you have a guy who makes the play or a guy who forces the play - Cantor falls into the second category.
Defensive End: Gavin Walls - Winnipeg Blue Bombers: This guy has a very bright future in the game. He has all the physical skills and I love his effort level.
Defensive End: Brent Johnson - B.C. Lions: Great college background out of Ohio State. In the last two years, he has emerged as one of the best.
Middle Linebacker: A.J. Gass - Edmonton Eskimos: Might be the toughest player in the CFL. He has overcome a lot of injuries during his career and has not let them affect his ability.
Middle Linebacker: Reggie Hunt - Saskatchewan Roughriders: Wears number nine, and that is usually the number of tackles he has at the end of the game.
Outside Linebacker: Otis Floyd - B.C. Lions: Makes a big-time contribution on special teams and on defence.
Outside Linebacker: Kevin Eiben - Toronto Argonauts: Has great clarity in his pre-snap reads and post-snap reactions.
Cornerback: Adrion Smith - Toronto Argonauts: May not be the best in the league, but has had his best season in years.
Cornerback: Malcolm Frank - Edmonton Eskimos: He could be the best pure athlete in the CFL.
Defensive Back: Donny Brady - Edmonton Eskimos: He comes across as a leader both on and off the field. He plays with a lot of team pride.
Defensive Back: Clifford Ivory - Toronto Argonauts: Smart, athletic and has a sixth sense on when to break on a ball for the interception.
Safty: Kelly Wiltshire - Edmonton Eskimos: In a similar way to Derrell Mitchell, has been productive in his new home. Has had some fantastic collisions throughout the year.
Punt Returner: Keith Stokes - Winnipeg Blue Bombers: Nobody can change direction as many times or as quickly as Stokes. He is a joy to watch.
Kick Returner: Corey Holmes - Saskatchewan Roughriders: Maybe my favourite player in the league. It's tough not to consider him my top running back, but he's an outstanding special teams player.
Kicker/Punter: Damon Duval - Montreal Alouettes: Nice and consistent as both a punter and kicker.
Head Coach: Wally Buono - B.C. Lions: Probably tough to work for, but he has developed a good team. As much as there has been a rejuvenation in Hamilton and Toronto, B.C. has been a wonderful story when it comes to attendance.
As in all lists, there are some great players that were left off this one so honourable mention goes to the following:
Montreal: Uzooma Okeke - Left Tackle
Toronto: Damon Allen - Quarterback
Ottawa: Josh Ranek - Running Back
Hamilton: Agustin Barrenechea - Middle Linebacker
B.C. - Barron Miles - Middle Linebacker
Edmonton - Steven Marsh - Linebacker
Winnipeg - Charles Roberts - Running Back
Calgary - Joffrey Reynolds - Running Back
Few changes I'd make..
Beaton has no business being on that O-line. I'd add Chiu in there somewhere as well.
Forget Baker.. I want Stegall.
Change the RB to Holmes.
Can Dickenson be healthy? If so him, if he's not, then Ray at QB.
Montford in for Walls.
I think Glenn Young should be in there somewhere as well..
All in all though, Schutlz did a pretty good job on a task like this.
