Saturday night = Leafs hockey and this week the Buds play host to the evil Flyers who are coming off a week's vacation at boot camp. Last time they played, Mikeal Tellqvist came up huge and provided the Leafs with the 1st 'W' of the year. Will history repeat itself... or will the Flyers exact revenge and end this 4 game mini streak the Leafs are on?

I think the leafs will win this, but a part of me says they won't, just because a 5 game winstreak always seems to be so hard to get for us. The leafs were lucky to come out of Carolina with 2 points, so I think the leafs have gotten over themselves and realized that they have to get back to work. I think they will put out a good showing against the Flyers because Quinn was steaming after the game against Carolina, the leafs should be solid tonight.

3-1 Leafs.

I agree that the Leafs will probably have a much better effort against the Flyers tonight then they did against the Canes on Thursday. The Leafs have played decent over this streak, but the big problem is when the puck gets into our zone for an extended period of time, everyone panics and worries so much about taking a Penalty that they are easy on their coverage and end up giving up a chance against or a goal. I still have no clue how Belak and Berg are still employed on the team, but I guess sending Woz down was just a reminder that they aren't going anywhere and we've gotta live with them. The Tucker, Allison and O'Neill line has to be more smart defensively and for the love of anything holy, give Lindros some players who can help him offensively, I mean the guy is on a tear and he's done it with Domi and Kilger, I would move Wilm to that line and put Lindros with Czerkawski and Poni, maybe Lindros can wake those two up and get them going.

Richards is focusing on his first appearance on Hockey Night in Canada, a debut that takes place tonight when his Flyers visit the Maple Leafs at the Air Canada Centre.

It is a moment he often thought about during his formative years in his hometown of Kenora.

"Like any kid growing up in Canada, I grew up watching it dreaming maybe one day I'd be on there," he said. "There wasn't any particular team I grew up (cheering for). I followed Montreal, Vancouver, you know, the Canadian teams.

"I wasn't part of the Leafs nation, though."

That a boy, Michael. :thumb: I love this former Kitchener Rangers' captain.

What a bad game by the Leafs, telling stat was the Flyers scoring with 2 men down which at this level is absolutely unacceptable. Belak and Berg continued their stellar  play with each taking stupid penalties and contributing nothing to the game. Oh well, loss #2 not really that important at this point of the season, but when it was tied in the third, we sat back and let the Flyers control the play which led to 2 unfortunate bounces which really decided the game. I am still shocked the Carlo's development is being stunted so JFJ and Quinn can justify giving Berg 1.1 million and Belak whatever he makes. Bring on the Bruins :thumb:

*EDIT*

I still have no clue why Tucker's goal was disallowed, I was watching it wondering why they were even looking at it and the ruling was because the ref's whistle blew when it clearly didn't. It might've changed the game, but even if it didn't, I'm still wondering about that one.

Take this game boys and burn it to DVD and watch it over and over again. Label it what not to do. A TOTAL team effort in this loss, from start to finnish. Yes it was a goal, but it wouldn't have mattered, they stunk the joint out.

Eddie needs to take that new glove of his, oil it up, stuff it with a few pucks, tie a lace around it and leave it on the top shelf until Thursay in Boston. Too many re-bounds.

Eric, buddy, love ya but on that 5 on 3, just because you are out of the play doesn't mean you give up on it. You didn't know that Richards was going to beat Eddie on that shot. Lazy! Go get em on Monday!!

It was not a goal. Lindros pushed Esche into the net, Esche had the puck underneath him and you can plainly see from the camera inside the net that Lindros pushed him into the net. Geez. :)

Geez. :)The angle from the side clearly shows Esche slid in on his own. No matter it was one goal and the leafs stunk up the place and it wouldn't have mattered.

Michael Richards scores a real beauty on his HNIC debut. Shorthanded, nonetheless.

If you had your eyes open, you would see that good ol 88 pushed him in. He slid in, whatever.

I didn't see Lindros push anyone in. From where I was sitting it should have counted as a goal, not that I care or anything. That end of the ACC has problems establishing what is and isn't a goal. ;)

I agree with you, this whole Eric pushed him in argument is wrong, because Esche clearly was moving backwards and this phantom push probably happened after the puck was in the net. And the worst part was the ref...McCreary I think  had this dazed look on his face, like what just happened :conspire:

And you wouldn't happen to be talking about a certain goal 2 minutes into game 1 that was clearly in, but no one decided to check would you?

An ugly game defensively for the Leafs and the talk is about the disallowed goal.

Well, the reason for that would be is we Leaf fans have discussed our defensive shortcomings for years now and we can describe out every mistake that was made, when it was made, and why it was made. So why bother beating the dead horse? ;)

The game could have turned out different if the goal was allowed. I think everyone would agree with me here. Confidence levels and etc could have changed the game.
