Fox TV executives are hoping for a sweep so they can get back to their normal schedule. The ratings for this are going to hurt.

You're right that this isn't as glorious as a New York Yankees/Los Angeles Dodgers series would be, but as a baseball fan I'm quite excited. This is going to be a great series between two outstanding pitching teams. I have no problem with defensive baseball. It's one of the few sports that I can truly appreciate low scoing 1-0 and 2-1 games.

White Sox comeback from a 4-2 deficit and hit a Slam, which will probably win them game #2. Still not over, but it probably will be. Another umpire contraversy with Dye getting a base when the ball clearly hit the bat, but that's really been the story of the playoffs. Fox really likes to highlight it though with Joe Buck(as annoying as it gets) keep bringing it up and showing highlights from the ALCS.

Talk about a lucky string of officiating for the ChiSox.
Wow.
Ninth inning dramatics in Chicago-South.
It's Jose Vizcaino who I remember won game one of the 2000 World (Subway) Series for the Yankees.
See yah!
Neither of these teams will lose at home.... so far I'm 2-2 ;).
A walk-off shot in the bottom of the ninth by S-Pod gives the White Sox a 2-0 series lead.
This World Series will only get funner and more exciting when things shift to Houston. I assure you this will not be a sweep.

While I don't necessarily care which team wins the Series, I have to say that Game 2 had one hell of an ending. Between this 9th inning, and the one against the Cardinals in Game 5 of the NLCS, the Astros have been on the wrong end of two of these late game heroics (although they put up a fight in this one).
I don't really care who wins, but I think this should be a good series. Maybe I'll have to start watching baseball again.

Excellent game between to scrappy teams.
I am enjoying this series (even though I picked Houston to win it all).
The Chisox have been on the receiving end of two controversial calls.
Last night was clearly a foul ball.
I'm surprised the catcher did not argue more.
Houston has a real uphill battle now.

Commish orders roof open for Game Three
Associated Press
10/25/2005 4:33:59 PM
HOUSTON (AP) - Major League Baseball ordered the roof open at Minute Maid Field for Game 3 of the World Series on Tuesday night, ignoring the wishes of the Houston Astros.
Jimmie Lee Solomon, executive vice-president of baseball operations in the commissioner's office, made the announcement at Minute Maid Field about four hours before the scheduled first pitch. It was 21 C and the sky was cloudless when Solomon spoke.
''It's a beautiful day,'' Solomon said. ''This is not unprecedented. It happened in 2001 down in Arizona. The roof was open all four games there.''
The Astros like playing with the roof closed because, among other things, it increases the noise.
Solomon said the commissioner's office followed the Astros' regular-season guidelines, which call for the roof to be open when the temperature is under 80 degrees and there is no rain.
''I think it's a disregard to our fans, the comfort of our fans,'' Astros manager Phil Garner said.
Solomon said the roof is likely to be open for all games in Houston this week.I heard on Sportsnet that the Astros were 15 - 11 with the roof open this season and 36 - 17 with the roof closed.
The commissioner needs to take a flying leap and keep his nose out of it.

What garbage. The Astros should be able to do whatever they want with their home field.
I don't agree with it either. The Houston Astros have a maximun of three home games in this series. They should be allowed to do what they want to have home field advantage, whether it be growing the grass long, watering the base paths, HAVING THE ROOF CLOSED, or whatever. But Bud Selig is stepping in, throwing his weight around like this was being played at a neutral site. It's BS.
Game one was good. Game two was great. Game three was amazing. And game four was the best of them all.
Each one could have gone either way, but the fortunes of Chicago-South was outstanding as they win their first World Series in 88 years.
The White Sox are underrated. They have been all season, even though they were the A.L.'s best team tape to tape, swept the defending champion Red Sox, had four complete games thrown in the A.L.C.S., but now there's no denying that they're the best of 2005.
Congratulations to a team that got clutch hitting, pitching, defensive plays and umpire calls in the favour. That's the formula for success and they completed that very well.

Congrats ChiSox and their fans, they deserve their victory.
I believe the difference in this series was the managers.
I think Ozzie Guillen outwitted Phil Garner.
Two scrappy teams, that battled to the end.
Excellent job guys!!

Good call - ESPN says White Sox-Astros World Series lowest-rated ever (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/playoffs2005/news/story?id=2206044)
BTW - hats off to Chicago, they really took charge in the playoffs. I thought Houston would put up more of a fight. As I did St. Louis would last year. I just never expect a team that makes it to the finals to get swept.
Note to self - predict sweep in world series from now on.

Joe Crede or Paul Konerko should have won the MVP. I know Dye had the best batting %, and the winning hit, but his hits overall were not as meaningful or productive as Crede or Konerko and Crede especialy was even more amazing on defence in the final. Anyway whole team played great but disagreed on the MVP. Will be interesting to see who this great team can keep next year, I would love to see them repeat unless the Blue Jays somehow can pull off a World Series of course. :boogie:
