The Leafs are finally back in action after a few days of rest. Carolina has started the season off well. Their young goalie, Cam Ward has been playing well so far. The Leafs better not take this team lightly, they've had to tendency to bite the Leafs in the butt.

True. Kinky, but true. The Leafs should be able to win this one, they are the favourite in my book. However, as you've said, Carolina has been playing well with good goal tending, and are offensively dangerous aswell, with that young Stall guy to watch for. They are very capable of upsetting the Leafs tonight. Let's hope that TO's PP continues to click.

This has been a bluemeanie? paid announcment.

go leafs go

I think we're going to have a letdown game today. The break was bad for momentum.

Hopefully the new NHL has made the team realize that there are no easy games and they have to play hard all 82. The game in Atlanta last week was perfect, get ahead early and peddle to the metal. I think the layoff could have some rust early in the game, but by 10 minutes in, the team should be ready to go since they are very well rested and on paper a much better team. The game should really be won by Toronto, but you never know, hopefully O'Neill shines in his first game against the one and only NHL team he had ever played for prior to this season.

I'm very surprised with the play of Rod Brind'Amour

So far he has 6 points thru 5 games(3G 3A)

Hedican also seems to fit well with the new rules :thumb:

Leafs win 5-4 in overtime with Ken Klee getting the winner with 15.8 seconds left in overtime. Again, the Leafs were outshot, this time 32-23 and Ed Belfour had to be sharp.

Another strong game from the young guns with both Stajan and Steen getting markers. Lindros also got another marker, that's 4 straight games with a goal.

Now it's time for Philly who will surely be looking for revenge for the 4-2 loss last week.

WTF is all the Leafers?
Ok, I'll do the recap...*rubs hands with evil grin*
- First of all, when did the Leafs pick up Tverdovsky? He set up two beauties for the Buds. Without Oleg it would have been 4-3 Canes. Good pick up by Fergie.
- PP went 1-5, the lone goal being Klee's OT stinker.
- Lindros also scored his 6th stinker of the year. Ward did not play well at all, stinkers going in all over the place.
- Blew another 2 goal third period lead, with McCabe's Team Canada worthy gaff in front of Eddie. Doesn't matter, he got 5 assists against Atlanta the other night. McCabe for the Norris!
- Once again, this Leaf team finds away to get the worse out of the competition. But, a win's a win's a win..
- Final score, 5-4 Leafs in OT. They now are tied with Ottawa with 10 pts with 12 games in hand, but I can guarantee that TSN & SN will put the Leafs ahead of the Sens in their standings.
- I don't know how the Leafs do it...

Bad play by Mccabe in front, it was a risky play and it didn't pay off. If he had of did his original goal he would have looked brilliant gloving down the scoring chance, but he turned out to deflect it in. He made up for his first big mistake of the year though with 2 more assists in the game. That's 11 points on the year so far now.

Hadn't you heard, Mad, they're bribing the officials.
That's why Quinn gets so angry when the loafs get a penalty.

All in all a great start for the leafs.
I was not one of those people who was predicting doom and gloom.
Hoping for it yes . . .but not predicting it.

And he's still only a +1..

I'd say this was our worse game yet. I wasn't at all impressed with the O'Niel-Allis-Tuck line...turn overs... turn overs...
Belfour was sloppy, but still made a few important saves... but he MUST do that. The Cabb'er got his default two points, but dumb moves simply out numbered the good ones. Stop whining about penalty's Brian!!! Only Two of the five Leaf PP's looked organized or dangerous... walked away with 1 for 5, but need to work on getting that back to waht it was last week. It's only a matter of time before refs start calling diving or unsportsmanlike penalties against the Leafs. Me thinkith that sometimes they do protest a wee too much looking for those Power Plays. That Czerkovski spaz... has anyone explained to him what that net at the other side of the rink is there for? Poni...Poni...Poni... you try soooo hard, yet... you're sooo useless.

Eric's not showing any signs of fading, that's good. Kilger... you da man. Keep it up. The kid line is the best thing that's happened to the Leafs since we acquired Joseph and Quinn - keep them together. Steen will be our future Sundin. Watch. Why is Antropov not in Washington yet?
