View Full Version : C. Ronaldo under investigation
Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo was today arrested and is
being questioned by detectives on suspicion of r*pe. The 20-year-old
Portugal international went voluntarily to a police station in London
to speak to police investigating an allegation made by a woman.
She claims she was seriously assaulted in a penthouse suite at the
Sanderson Hotel in central London on October 2. The player is
expected to emphatically deny any wrongdoing. A spokesman for
Manchester United said the club was not releasing a statement about
Ronaldo's arrest. Director of communications Phil Townsend said:
"We're not commenting at the moment."
Yet another footballer who can't keep his shorts on.

He's having a great year, first his dad passes away now he's got this to deal with. Let's see if the charges stick before we accuse CR of any wrong doing. Innocent until proven guilty...

In September last year, two Premiership players were interviewed over an alleged gang rape at the Grosvenor House hotel in London.
The Crown Prosecution Service later decided there was insufficient evidence for them to be charged.
Also last year three Leicester City players faced allegations of sexually assaulting three women in a five-star hotel on a training camp in Spain.
They spent six nights in jail there but all charges against them were dropped.
In January last year, rape charges were dropped against ex-Chelsea player Jody Morris and a friend after they were accused of raping a woman in Leeds.
Arsenal's Dutch striker Robin van Persie was held in jail in Rotterdam earlier this year after being accused of rape. He was released after two weeks and maintains his innocence.
See a trend? The charges won't stick.
He's rich, good looking and a popular figure, which makes him an easy target for women to play on to accuse rape. Ronaldo is innocent.
How can you be so sure? Chances are that he slept with her the question is consent.
Not often is the presumtion of innocence adhered to, but here I see that it is. Must be a bunch of Man U fans running around. Jacko, OJ, and Berretta were all found not guilty, but before and still long after in the court of public opinion finds them all guilty.

I've always disliked Ronaldo. He's right behind Rooney for players I always cheer against. However, I think if you look at how many footballers have been hit with similar charges in the past year, it becomes clear that he is more likely the victim in this situation.

Scotland Yard decides not to press rape charges against Man United star Ronaldo
LONDON (AP) - Scotland Yard said late Thursday that Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo will not face rape charges due to insufficient evidence.
The 20-year-old Portugal international was arrested Oct. 19 on allegations he sexually assaulted a woman in a penthouse suite at the Sanderson Hotel in central London on Oct. 2.
Ronaldo, who always denied the accusations, was questioned and bailed along with a man in his 30s.
"We have been informed today by the CPS (Crown Prosecution Service) that there is insufficient evidence to charge," a Scotland Yard spokesman said Thursday. "As such, the two men arrested during the course of this investigation will face no further action by police in connection with this matter."
