Just looking at the stats on NHL.com and I was sad to see that the Canucks have the 2nd worst penaltykill in the NHL (70.5%), allowing 10 goals on 34 chances. I know the season is early but that's bad.

Most of the players are the same as last year, with only Chubarov gone up front and Malik and Sopel on defense. I don't think Sopel got much PK time so that means only two players that are different and Park is a good penalty killer. Baumgartner and McCarthy don't get much PK time. Hopefully this poor PK is worked on and the Canucks can get back to being a top 5 penalty killing team.

As for the powerplay, the Canucks are 11th with 18.1%, scoring 10 goals in 55 chances. Top 5 teams have 25% or higher success rate; hopefully the Canucks can move up now that the top line is finally starting to perform as a unit.

Yeah, the numbers aren't too great

However, the Canucks are a good team..and good teams find a way to win. The early record of the Canucks speaks for this fact.

You have to remember that the PP was quite good against Chicago, and it looks to be on the rebound.

PK will be very hard to do in the new NHL. But I think they just have to practice it more.

I think the PP is good, just inconsistant.

Last season Jovanovski was the 5th highest SHTOI/G dman, this year he's been the 3rd. ;)
