Phoenix did rather well last night, against a team that has much higher expectations for themselves. Vancouver is one of the Cup favorites, whereas many see the Coyotes not making the playoffs. It was 0-0 after one, CuJo was solid in net. The first goal came in the second, off a deflection, Ohlund was given credit.
The Second goal was on a bad change by Phoenix, with Hull not picking up a streaking Naslund. Naslund went in on a breakaway and scored his first of the season.
Keith Ballard, you will hear his name alot for next decade, a Phoenix rookie D-man, was left wide open in the slot, and made no mistake. He beat Cloutier for his first ever NHL goal.
Seconds later Naslund came flying down the wing on a 2-on-1. The defenseman took away the pass, so Naslund rocketed home his second of the evening. Those of you who know CuJo from his days in Toronto, may have noticed that although at times stellar, he was prone to letting in goals immediately after the Leafs scored. If he had stopped Naslund on that 2-on-1 Phoenix would have had all the momentum. The Desert Dogs scored once more to close the gap to 3-2, but ran out of time to complete the comeback.

A couple of Phoenix notes: They had no Nagy(55-24-28-52), and Peter Nedved left during the game due to a groin problem.

Yeah, it was the Naslund show..thats for sure

He will really benefit from the rules this season. Expect he, and Iginla to have big years.

The Coyotes played better than expected to get back into the game.

I found Glen Healey hilarious. He was really coming down hard on the Coyotes all game long

Looks like Hulse and O'Donnell may be trade bait..as neither were dressed due to foot speed, and rookies.
