........to enhance your posting experience here?
Whatever comes to mind please jot it down and fire up a thread here in the suggestion forum.
We want your posting experience here to be an enjoyable time.
If you have a problem with another member, please PM one of the mods and we will attempt everything in our power (and we have a huge amount of power here btw!) to sort it out and have cooler heads prevail.
What I would like to feel here is just a sense of laid back posting. People should just be able to chat about anything, within reason, and have a good time.

I think we should have four skins.

Am that is a good idea, I think we should take that up with the Admin.
Skins are something I'll look into down the road... For the time being I just went with the same style of the former site.
In due time, perhaps I'll explore other vb skins.

Warning system also would be good for the mods..its very easy, and its alot better than what happened at hockeyforums where we did it through PMs. HFboards has a system like that in place, and it works well over there.
so far so good but i will let you know in my own "shy" way if I thin k of anything that can enhance ther forum.

skins will be looked into down the road. Also as mentioned there are some great hacks avaiable for vBulletin both from an admin standpoint and a user standpoint (http://www.vbulletin.org) I'll definitely be browsing those goodies as time permits as a way to improve this place.
First and foremost.... the first incarnation of hockey station had a cool database of hockey links all categorized. I am going to bring that back as soon as I get some free time... It's really cool :)

At the index can we put the misc. lounge and stuff at the top so we don't have to scroll down each time?

Just partially. It's what we're accustomed to...and also, it's just easier as that will be the place that generates the most traffic until the season starts.
Start at the top with the gen hockey stuff and trivia but have the lounge stuff just below that. Just a suggestion.
You saying put the general forums such as lounge and trash talk at the top instead of the bottom? If so put it to a vote... if enough members agree we'll make the change.
Personally I think the non-sports stuff should be at the bottom but if enough members agree in a poll to put that stuff at the top... consider it done. I aim to please.

Over at another board I post at, which also uses vBulletin, they've purchased Flash Chat and it's absolutely stunning compared to the standard Java Chat. I know it's not the most affordable expense, but I'm more than willing to chip in financially.

I'll be looking into the following tasks in the coming days.
- various live chat options.
- creating new styles for the site (skins).
- hockey links database revival.
- other improvements and hacks.
This is still a work in progress - one step at a time, but eventually all these things will be reality. :coffee:

I have a little suggestion, I may be biased though seeing as I'm an avid AHL fan. My suggestion is that instead of having the subforums like they are with the Divisions and Teams, we should have like is at HF but the sub-forums being used for the minor league teams, for example under Toronto would be St. Johns.
Either that or put a sub forum on a sub forum, if thats possible. lol.
Just a tidbit for you to chew on.

I like it a lot John. The reason I put NHL teams in subforums was to prevent the home page from being so long... but after feeling it out for a few days I don't think I like it... The team forums get lost.
I really like your idea. One forum group for teams, I don't want to break them down by division because that creates an extra unnecessary layer of the forum hierarchy. I will list them by alphabetical order instead. And every NHL forum will have a sub-forum for it's AHL affiliate.
The only draw back is that it will make this home page pretty long, but that's not the end of the world.

I think I will also change the order of forum groups as Slappy suggested. General forums first. NHL related forums second. NHL team forums 3rd, and Other Sports forums last.

I am looking into flashchat GLG2. Especially how it integrates seemlessly into VB. Not gonna happen right away - we only have 30 something members now... but it's on the to-do list (unless I find a better option) :thumb:

How about a "problem" section. Just in case a member encounters a problem with the site? I know that vBulliten is pretty reliable and easy to use but one never knows, problems may occur.

Funny you should ask, because I was thinking of merging the "funny stuff" sub-forum into the lounge. And putting politics into a sub-forum of the lounge.
For now the regular lounge is the place. If/when I make that change I will move the political threads and we will use that area going forward for political discussion/debate.

What happened to "Posts"?
At the top we have, "Profile FAQ Members Search Quick Links....etc But where is the section that says, Posts ? That's a super quick link.
Curious minds need to know.

Yes sir. I removed the "New Posts" link to make room for the chat link in the nav bar, because it's the very first choice under quick links so was not necessary. :)
