Woo, the first inning and the Red Sox already got a double. Ortiz just struck out, blah.

Anyways, this should be a great series. I want the Red Sox to win the World Series again but I wouldn't mind if the White Sox went all the way either. Just as long as the stinkin Yankees don't win the AL and the World Series.

I've never really liked the White Sox, so I'm hoping for a dominating performance by Boston in this series, but it hasn't gotten off to a good start.

I just jumped in over at MLB.com and see that Clement not only got touched up for 5 in the first inning... but hit 2 of the first 3 batters he faced. Not a good start. He must be nervous or something.

Podsednik just got picked off stealing.

What a destruction in Game #1

14-2! That is a record for a team that is coming off a world series win to lose their next preseason game by that many runs. Clement looked shaken, and the White Sox tore the cover off the ball for 5 HRs. If the White Sox can get to Wells tommorow, it'll be lights out cause I don't think lightning is going to strike twice, not this year anyways :thumb:

I expect this to be the best first round series, but judging by game one, that may not be the case.

The Red Sox looked flat, from the pitching to defence to hitting, for whatever reason and it looks to me that the White Sox are looking to prove doubters wrong. Even when they had the best record in the A.L. for most of the season, they were underrated.

It should be interesting to see how Boston is able to reply tommorow. I don't think they'll have a problem doing that in game two.

3 outs away from a sweep of the champs, El Duque throws 3 shutout innings retiring 9 of 10 batters, and the most important came in the bottom of the 6th where he came in with a 1 run lead bases loaded, none out and he got 2 infield pop ups and struck out Johnny Damon. I probably should've picked a sweep in the pool, but not even I thought the Red Sox would get swept... although still one more inning left ;)

It's all over, the Red Sox have been swept and will not repeat as World Series champs. Interesting enough, Curt Schilling famous for his Red Sock... didn't even play in the series. I see a lot of changes in the future of the Red Sox, and most of it concerns the pitching staff. White Sox got what they needed, key hits and great pitching to take it and the Yankees/Angels won't have to worry about playing the Sox if they advance... uh, the Red ones at least :thumb:

WTF??????? Am I hallucinating?

ESPN just cut to commercial (without announcement) as Edgar Renteria stepped into the box with 2 outs in the bottom 9th!!!!

They stayed in commercial as Chicago won the game. By the time they returned, they showed it as a replay, like the White Sox winning was no big deal. They never even showed the WS celebrating.

Whhhhhaaaaa??????

I gotta find out about this in tomorrow's papers.

Apparently the Yankee fans at Yankee stadium did see the final out on the big screen and let out a cheer. But ESPN was in commercial!

Wow, of all times to go to commercial

Must've been someone screwing up on your side since we got the feed fine here on SNet in Canada.

Funny, we were talking about cutting away from the climax of the game the other day in the NHL and they cut away then... someone must have been a Red Sox fan or wants to get fired :conspire:

I'm impressed. The White Sox have played solid in the last week of the regular season and continue that streak into the playoffs, despite their mini-collapse in the last couple months. Sweeping the defending World Series champions is outstanding. Chicago-South Side's manager, Ozzie Guillen has to get a lot of credit for his decisions in this series.. Good on them for getting their first playoff series win since 1917. I think they'll be winning the American League Pennant.
