From Eklund.

I can't see a trade being worked out because either Kaberle or Mccabe would have to go the other way, and both those guys are more expensive then Boynton.

Yeah, good luck with that one.

First of all Boston isn't stupid and wouldn't trade a player to a place which could potentially hurt them(especially being in the same division)

Secondly we really don't have anything to really trade away for a #3 defenceman. Maybe a forward, but really with how dense our talent pool is in the minors, we really are hurting for trade bait.

And finally, it's Eklund who has little to none credibility so take it for what it is.

I agree with you for the most part, except for the fact that Eklund has gained some credibility and I think he's proven that he does in fact have contacts. Since the preseason has started though I'm betting his site is suffering for hits, so maybe he started this one to get some attention back.

Dupont of the Boston Globe writes that any club that signs Boynton to an unmatched offer would have to pay the Bruins two first round draft picks as compensation. GM Mike O'Connell has previously stated he's not planning to trade Boynton.

Someone's going to ask the question, does JFJ have the balls to do that?

I hope he doesn't!!!

2 first rounders for Boynton... absolutely not, that would be the dumbest thing he could do. We need to rebuild our youth, not trade it away for another mediocre defenceman.

I think Boynton has potential to be a big star in this league.

Boynton is a solid #2 defenseman on a good team, maybe even a #1 on an average team. He hasn't done much offensively, but he's gradually improved in that department over the last couple of seasons. He's also pretty solid in his own end. Honestly, I'd take him over Kaberle, but maybe that's just me.

You think it is worth 2 first round draft picks though??? I think if you're going to get him, it's gotta be via trade.

You think it is worth 2 first round draft picks though??? I think if you're going to get him, it's gotta be via trade.Under the new collective bargaining agreement, the offer sheet compensation for a $2-million contract would be a first- and a third-round draft pick, but that drops to a second-round pick if the offer sheet is $1.99 million instead.

I'd give up a 2nd rounder for Boyton. But you can bet your bottom dollar that Boston would match a 1.99 offer sheet.

Their last offer was a 1.75, and the season is only days away.

I wouldn't want to give away 2 firsts though. I also wouldn't want to give up Caber or Kabs, so I'm at a loss unless we serve up Colaiocovo, and idea which I'm not a fan of.

That I could live with, and I agree, in a trade I wouldn't want to give up McCabe or Kaberle.

Leafs' plans won't include Marchment
TSN.ca Staff

The Toronto Maple Leafs have decided against signing veteran defenceman Bryan Marchment.Sources tell TSN that the Leafs have told Marchment they will not exercise an option to sign him to a contract for the 2005-06 NHL season.

Marchment, who played with the team prior to the lockout, had been at the Leafs' camp as an unrestricted free agent trying to earn a roster spot.Marchment has indicated Toronto is the only team he was interested in finishing his NHL career with.

Sources say other NHL teams have inquired about his availability, but the veteran blueliner, to this point, has not been interested in uprooting his family from Toronto or leaving his family to play elsewhere. Unless that changes, it is possible the 16-year career of the bruising blueliner could be over.

Room for Boynton?

Room for Boynton?

Possibly or perhaps they intend to carry Colaiacovo or one of the other younglings.

The only thing that makes sense for the leafs is the second rounder idea. If that happens then our D is pretty good.

Mccabe - Kaberle
Boynton - Klee
Khavanov-Coli/Berg/Pilar

And if it doesn't happen? Pilar's gone for awhile isn't he?

Uhh Kronwall?

A full year in the A with top minutes will be good for him. I think we have an ace in him, I don't think we should rush him.

As for Ferret, without this deal happening I can see this.

Kaberle- Mccabe
Khavanov- Klee
Berg - Coli/Kronwall/Brown

Even though I don't want to rush Kronwall it seems like our only alternative, though I'd rather bring up Harrison, but that seems unlikely.

Is this a joke Johnny? Boynton would look good on any team. He is a quality defenseman who will thrive in the new NHL.

He is very mobile, has a good shot, and is physical.

The only problem..is his history of holding out.

I'd love him on the Canucks, but most likely he will sign for 2 million..

If he doesn't reach a contract with someone by Wednesday, I will lose all respect I have for him.
