View Full Version : Question of the Month - October 2005

Mel

What will be the most goals scored by one NHL team to start the season?

That is from Opening night (October 5) through the end of games played on October 31.

(Tie Breaker... name the team that does it.) thanks Charlio for the correction :thumb:

In celebration of the return of NHL hockey.... deadline is extended till midnight ET on October 4 --- the eve of the 2005-2006 NHL season.

Guesses after the deadline don't count. As usual the closest numeric guess wins, even if over.

Prize: Custom User Title!

Good Luck :pimp:

Common Sense tells me to pick Ottawa... that feeling in my gut that I usually ignore, tells me to pick the dumb Flyers... but I'm going to go out on a limb here and go with Wasington... wait, no...ah, what the heck....

Toronto - 45 (which will probably be about 8 less then their GAA. =])

First thought in my head was the sens, but they're usually slow starters in the Reg. Season.

So I'll go with Toronto, 40 goals. 52 goals against though.

I say Ottawa with 39 but my gut is saying Detroit with 40 because they have one extra game then most

I'm a mod so I can't win. I'll take a guess anyways with Vancouver scoring 102 goals; 10 each against the Coyotes and Oilers in the first two Canucks games. :D

Well here we are, the season only 4 days old and a team nobody guessed (Atlanta) has jumped out to an early lead with 15 goals in 3 games. The team that most picked (Ottawa) has plenty of time to catch up though... with 7 goals over 2 games thus far.

Well I need Detroit to get only 6 goals in their remaining 3 games, Blackhawks x 2 and the Blue Jackets as well as maintain their slim lead and I win. In the words of George Bush Sr. "Not gonna happen"

Yah but now Detroit has 2 extra games... Either way both our guesses will most likely be shy of the leader

Barring a double digit scoring blow-out tonight or tomorrow.... it looks like Timmy Tabasky is gonna nail this one on the head.

Detroit is off to a downright scary start. 11-1; 51 goals (#1 in NHL); 23 goals allowed (#2 in NHL). That is some team man.

Amoroq was the only one who guessed Detroit, however nobody guessed Carolina who currently sit atop the Eastern conference with 17 points and conference-best 48 goals... huh?
