As the recent retirement of Adam Deadmarsh is concussion related does anyone think that after goalie equipment, the competion commitee will look at regular player equipment with an eye to making it safer? Less hard plastics and more materials with some give. Comments.
Fully agree, and hope to see it happen. I've taken enough elbows in minor hockey; never mind the kind of crap you'd be putting up with at an NHL level.
I hope they do because there are too many needless injuries these days.
I agree that the equipment needs to be improved, but I also think the NHL needs a tougher policy on blows to the head. Even though one of my favorite players of all time is rather known for taking people out with hits to the head (even though many consider them clean), too many good careers have been affected by them. With the technology we have today, there has to be safer materials out there to make helmets, pads, gloves, etc.
