Precautionary. He says he feels great and will be back on the ice tomorrow. From what I've heard he didn't adequately stretch. The new team doctors are paranoid it seems.

He hasn't played a game of hockey in 2 1/2 years, they have every right to be paranoid John.

True enough. At least he didn't hide his slight injury(if you can call it that) this time. The last time he did that it didn't work out well.

I heard he's all right and Ferret is right. The doctors do have every right to be paranoid about this.

I think Owen 'Boo-Hoo' Nolan is the new poster boy for why you should divulge any and all injuries ASAP to team doctors etc.

Not unexpected. Allison hasn't played against NHL compeition for years now and may not be ready to just jump in and swim with the sharks. Unlike goalies like (our own Hasek for example), players don't get long breaks between plays when the puck is at the other end of the ice. Given Jason's past injuries however, and particularly the fact that he has hidden injuries before, the doctors should be paranoid as it's their job to keep players healthy and treat them if they're not.

I wouldn't get at all concerned over this and rather just brush it off. But it's no cause for extra optomism that's for sure.

EDIT - From some Leafer buddies of mine apparently he didn't even go on the ice but was indeed seen in full equipment. Allison took himself out of practice before it even started, although he "felt great".

It would appear as if he has tweaked his hip flexor, so nothing to worry about. Overly cautious perhaps after recent incedents? Can't say I blame him.

Allison was on the ice. I saw a clip of him skating on SN. He probably wasn't out there for long though.

Staffan Kronwall apparently laid out Lindros in practice today. The funny thing is, Kronwall said he held back when he smacked him

I heard that about Kronwall too. Apparently he's been really impressive and there are a select few who think he should get a place over Coliacovo if he continues to play at this level.

A minor setback if you ask me, as it was apparently a hip strain and since his red alert zone is the neck, more than likely something that will be forgotten in a week or so. Besides, the new team doctors have to be worked in and get ready for the season, so maybe it was a test :thumb:

I thought Lindros said he'd practiced stickhandling with his head up.

Yeah I hope so. I like Allison. Even as a Leaf. I was reading a short history of his problems...

The Los Angeles Kings called it a hip flexor injury. That was in January 2003. Eleven days later, they announced it had spread to his groin. A week later, it was knee, hip and groin.

In March, it became a concussion. Then it was post-concussion syndrome. Then it was post-traumatic migraine symptoms. Then it was vision problems. Then it was a cervical strain.

Whatever it was, Jason Allison says none of this would have happened if he hadn't played hurt.

Allison is fine, nothing a hip replacement won't take care of! :D

We need this guy healthy if the Leafs plan on making the playoffs this season.

Cheers

I haven't been able to find any news on today's practice... I guess it went by uneventfully :thumb:

grim - I never knew he had a past history with a hip flexor, wonder if it's the same hip  Either way, better he rests it since he obviously is not fighting for a spot on the team and unless he is healthy he really is not going to help the team on the IR.

HACK - Welcome to the site, glad you found your way over here :thumb:
