- Lalime for Donato and Niemi (6/18/99)
- Prospal and Falloon for Daigle (1/17/98 )
- Chara and 2001 first-round pick (Spezza) for Yashin (6/23/01)

I went with the Chara one. Obviously that was a ham job on Mad Mike, but the Redden one didn't pan out that bad either....(Mad Mike again?!?)

Chara is one of the best defenseman in the league, and will soon win the Norris. Spezza is an up and coming young star, who is destined for 1st line duty

And Yashin? He has struggled on the island, and probably won't hit 30 goals anytime soon

Runner up deal goes to the one for lalime, which was also very good

Yah the anwser to this is somewhat obviouse. We got a young and upcoming star and a consistent Norris candidate. They got a whiney paycheck player with little heart and desire. This trade could probably be rated in the top five NHL deals in the last 5 years

Salo is actually one of the Canucks more solid defenseman

He has played well, and remained quite healthy. However, I'd like to see him use his shot, and size more

I would've taken Chara for Yashin straight up.
But we got Mukalt too, and that other guy . . .you know, the draft pick.

I was sorry to see Salo go, but I think we got a great player in Schaefer.
Good deal for both teams.

As a matter of fact, I liked all those trades except the Barrasso trade.
Never liked the guy, I thought he was over-rated.
I mean, I could've backstopped the 91 and 92 penguins to thier stanley cup(s).

While the Chara for Yashin trade is clearly the best one let's not overlook the deal for Lalime and for Prospal. They both had a couple of solid seasons in Ottawa for Daigle, Donato and Niemi !
