Alrighty, the first two days of this camp are done.

To sum up day #1: Statsny. Best player on the ice by all acounts, and pulled an amazing move off in the shootout. Semenko said, "Wow. He just did five moves in the crease."

Matt Greene decked one of the new comers, Schremp wasn't overly impressive with the exception of one PP, and Pouliot was considered the 2nd best player on the ice by many.

Word is Schremp really improved his skating over summer, and there'll be a story from Guy Flamming coming soon on that.

I caught a segment from Global TV Edmonton about Chris Pronger getting on the ice for the first time at the U of A. Needless to say the 6'6" defenceman looked great. His skating looked fresh and the couple shots they showed him taking were just what the Oilers need from him. Looking forward to him and Smith on the #1 d-unit.

He'll rarely play with Smith. MacT is notorious (And rightfully so) for spreading the teams depth out. Smith and Pronger may kill penalties together, and play the last few minutes.. anything more would surprise me. Semenov will get the bulk of the minutes, and they'll send Staios out for some as well.

Staios - Smith was a great pairing not too long ago; no reason it can't be again, espeacilly with easier minutes :pimp: .

Apparently Petterson has been turning a lot of heads; and for a sixth rounder from just this year, that's amazing. Greene and Pouliot kept up solid play today and Jacques has looked good as well.

Team White (Schremp, Storitini, few other notables..) had the day off today.

Syvret and Young have both looked good; while Tesliuk has had a lack-lustre camp.

No Statsny day 2 or did he fade?

No Statsny day 2 or did he fade?

Was still one of the better players day two, although not as dominant as he was day 1.

Management is extremely high on him, and rumors are swirling that he could bump Jani Rita and cause a trade. Not like bumping Jani Rita is much of an accomplishment any more, given how MacT views the poor guy.

I thought the title of this thread was Oilers Rookie Camp - Reviews and Thoughts . Keep it on topic. *wink*

Anyway...Rookie Camp on Sat. Sept 10th between 9:30 a.m. and noon. I think I'll check it out (before the skate with the Oilers between noon and 4:00 p.m.) and then head on over for the free bbq. We'll see who has the best sizzle.

Does anyone know if the rookies going to be playing the U of Eh Bears this year?
