View Full Version : Fantasy Baseball Playoffs
This thread is regarding the league that a few members here participate in, in addition to any other fantasy teams you may have entering their playoff schedule.
Championship Bracket.
The Dynasty (LFL) vs.
J.R.'s Amazin' Mets (J.R.)
Crack Wenches (cbc) vs.
Cal State Northridge (not a member)
Byes: Evil Empire (Mel), Canadian Flavour (PDO).In the final week of the regular season, I beat the first place Evil Empire 9-3 to secure a playoff spot. This is my first postseason appearance in Fantasy Baseball. :) The team is peaking at the right time, so I feel confident that the Amazin' Mets can pull the upset in the first round.
If you win - I'll have to face you again next week :curse:

Well I'm not in 8 leagues like I was last year, so the month of September will be a lot lighter for me this fantasy season  I square off against J.R. in the first round of the league mentioned in the original post. It'll be tough to pull one off this week, as my offense has really only been average at best over the past month or so. I need a big week for Tejada who has only hit 3 of his 25 homers in the past month. With Halladay out and Perez completely lost, it also looks like my top two pitchers won't be suiting up in this year's playoffs either. So I'll be looking for big months out of vets Washburn and Burnett, as well as youngsters Hernandez and Blanton stepping up.
In my other head-to-head league I'll be enjoying a bye this week, which is greatly appreciated. With a 154-47-19 record, anything less than the championship will be disappointment. Dropping Jake Westbrook for Zach Duke (coming off the DL on he 8th) took the last bit of deadweight off my roster.
Good luck to all of you playing fantasy baseball this month, and just bring it, J.R. :box:
Guarenteed 4th.
The absolute fair-weather fan has domianted this league.. like no other (not including that dirty, dirty Yankee fan)
I got some all star pitching, Ortiz and Pujols. Bring it on!
Ahem, beggin your pardon if I may. There is only one team that you can fairly say dominated in this league.
Of course in the world of head-to-head fantasy sports, that all goes out the window the day the playoffs start. Which is why I've been careful not to get too proud about regular season achievements...
It's all mainly luck anyway, my roster is not that impressive. I don't know what I'm doing more than any one else.
In fact my roster in this league is crappy compared to my rotisserrie league roster, and I'm in 3rd place there. (only 8 teams)... check it out:
C J. L?pez (Bal - C)
1B A. Pujols (StL - 1B)
2B J. Kent (LAD - 1B,2B)
3B D. Wright (NYM - 3B)
SS J. Rollins (Phi - SS)
OF G. Sheffield (NYY - OF)
OF P. Burrell (Phi - OF)
OF S. Green (Ari - 1B,OF)
Util J. Giambi (NYY - 1B)
BN J. Peralta (Cle - SS)
BN C. Lee (Mil - OF)
Starters
SP J. Blanton (Oak - SP)
SP F. Hern?ndez (Sea - SP)
SP R. Harden (Oak - SP)
SP Jo. Santana (Min - SP)
SP N. Lowry (SF - SP)
Closers
RP J. Isringhausen (StL - RP)
RP M. Rivera (NYY - RP)
RP A. Ben?tez (SF - RP)
Middle relief
P J. Witasick (Oak - RP)
P T. Gordon (NYY - RP)
Now that's some team :pimp: Easy when you only have 8.

Gah...
I figured the top 8 would make the playoffs, and the bottom 8 would have their own tourney.
I got screwed over ;) I was hoping to defend my title!
I predicted a last place finish for my team, but I managed 2nd last. I'm sorry to all my fans that were so looking forward to a last place parade :) :(

Don't worry, Amo. In my eyes you'll always be the Kansas City Royals of fantasy baseball :thumb:

Well, at least I beat out Amo. I wasn't expecting anything big for this anyway, I don't follow baseball at all. But I did kinda get my hopes up when Giambi went on his tear and lifted my team to 6th place.

Getting mad over the prospect of facing J.R.? Looks like you forget somebody ;) The Dynasty does not like being overlooked. You'll feel our wrath soon enough :thumb:
Getting mad over the prospect of facing J.R.? Looks like you forget somebody ;)Well played, LFL. I was getting rocked to the tune of 1-9 for most of the week, but over the weekend I made a couple moves and made things respectable, only losing by two: 5-7. It's off to play for the glorious fifth place title. Hopefully those who are still playing for the real title does so well. :) My money is on The Dynasty to take the crown back.

I just said that to vent frustration after getting beat up in the final week by J.R.
So don't take my comments as a personal slight.
I respect all and fear none. bring it. :pimp:

Congrats, Mel. The Dynasty got BEATDOWN this week, but I have a feeling that we'll cross paths with the Evil Empire again in the future ;)
Me and Mel both had our bye weeks to rest our players; which ultimately led to us running into the finals ;)
Whoo! Fifth place! Take that Cal State Northridge!
I'm still a little disappointed with the playing of the Amazin' when the playoffs rolled around, but I'm glad that I improved at fantasy baseball in my sophomore season.
Now after I finish running away with my Public League championship, the focus will be fantasy football and hockey.

Travis Hafner is just an animal. His numbers for me in my championship match this week: .342, 11 runs, 7 jacks, and 18 batted in. Aside from Ortiz there isn't a DH in the league better, and if I was voting he'd get my MVP vote.
