I am toying with the idea of buying one new. My speed demon friend test drove the V8. She loved it. However I would probalby realistically only be able to afforde the V6. (I'm not a big speed demon anyway).

Right now I have a Jeep Wrangler that's getting a bit rickety (99). But it's got low miles (under 40K). If I throw a bit of money at it to spruce it up, I can probably get 8K on a trade-in. 9-10K if I sold it privately.

Opinions?

My friend has 2004 i think.

Its a really nice car, and its got some kick to it. Just not a very good car for people in the back seat :D

I really like the new Mustangs. They still have a new slick look to them, but they also have a bit of the classic Mustang look thrown is as well. You should get one, Mel.

I wouldn't buy it

Probably cost too much in gas

The Mustang will get better mileage than my current Jeep Wrangler. (at least the V6)... the V8 would probably get equal or worse mileage. Jeep Wranglers are pretty bad on mileage. It's something like 16 MPG city, low 20's MPG highway. It's not an economical ride.

My trusty old Nissan back in the day had crazy mileage. I could (and did) drive 3-4 hundred miles on a single 11 gallon tank of gas. (4 cylinder).

A lot of my friends like to drive Ford Broncos for some reason. When they fill up it costs then $50-$60 US... and that usually won't even get them throught the week. That's ridiculous.

The only thing I don't like about cars, vs. trucks (jeeps in particular) is how they handle in the snow. But that's a rare issue for me.

It's a nice car, but Ford makes it. Personally I'd go with the 2006 Corvette.

Don't get the V6. People will laugh at you.
Go with a '05 V8, for a similar price.

I have an 2002 Stang. It's nice. The new ones are amazing. I took a GT 2006 mustang for a drive and I had 190 out of it and it could do more. Amazing machine. I'd recommend it.

If I was buying a Mustang, I'd buy one that Roush Performance has transformed.http://www.rsportscars.com/foto/05/mustangroush04.jpg

There was a special on some channel about Jack Roush and how his company is working on a number of Roush edition Fords.

An 05 is a possibility if I could find one I want that I could afford. But a left-over GT will still be closer in price to the 06 GT. And if that was the case I would go for the 06. One thing I do have is a friend who possesses an uncanny ability to beat salespeople down to cost. So a GT may not be out of the question. If I was going to sell the jeep to buy another car, I should have done it a few years back when it was still worth 12-14K. Oh well.

I have a friend who buys new cars at minimum every 2 years. Usually more like every year... she's had Miatas, Mercedes, BMW's, Audi's etc. She always just leveraged one against the next before it lost too much value. But then last year she played her cards wrong... held on a little too long, and WACK lost 23K of value, just like that.

Wait a minute, I read the results wrong, according to http://www.edmunds.com, my jeep is really worth over $11,000 ($9,500 trade-in). I was reading the base price and not the final adjusted price. If I could get 11K and put down another 4 for 15 total....................................... = :pimp: :pimp: :pimp:

Save your money for one more year.

The Guys with Guts ? Ford Introduces the 2007 Shelby Cobra GT500

Hitting the street next year, Ford's Shelby Cobra GT500 is bound to amplify the noise already created by the 2005 Mustang GT. The SVT Team unveiled what is being called the most powerful factory Mustang ever at the New York International Auto Show on March 23rd. The 450-plus horsepower, supercharged 5.4-liter, V-8 is the first production vehicle in a string of specialty Mustangs that SVT will help deliver.

This is the one you want.

With the way gas prices are going, I recommend a scooter.

This one looks like you can jump curbs, small children and shopping carts.

Or you could buy a hybrid car.

Jag X Type? Gaaaaak. It's a friggin piece of **** Ford Contour.

As for the Stang... I've owned many 4, 6 and 8 cylinder Fords. Engines have ranged from excellent to nightmarish. The worst one yet is the 3.8 litre in my wife's Windstar that keeps costing me big bucks for what seem to be design flaws even thought it has less than 60,000 miles. The Ford 3.8 is in the 6 cylinder Stang. Look out!! Buy the 8. At 300 HP, the 4.6 litre DOHC V8 engine is not a race engine, but it also gets decent gas mileage and is dependable... Also resale for the 3.8 is non existent. Don't buy the 6. IMHO

Thanks, already decided I won't buy the 6. that was my wallet talking :).

It didn't take long after sleeping on it, to realize if I do buy one, it will be the 8. But I'm not sure yet. Even so, the mileage would be no worse than what I currently drive.

Yeah, they are hard to find these days. My buddies father used to have about four of them. He'd refurbish them. Great cars

Saw one for sale over in Ireland..4000 Euros
